Hi all, can I join you? Need some motivation to try and get my house and garden under control. I am 18 weeks pg with DC3 and work fulltime, got back from hols last weekend and my house looks like a bomb has hit it! Piles of school uniform, maternity clothes, bags of carp brought back from hols by DCs etc everywhere. DS2s bedroom is a complete tip, I got rid of 4 boxes of toys in June but he has so much Lego, and not enough space to store it all.

Just to make myself feel better here's what Ive achieved so far since 'getting back from hols

-Decluttered car (!) DS hoovered inside
-Tidied some kitchen and utility cupboards
-1 bag old clothes ready to go to CS
-1 bag books/toys etc for CS
    -1 bag clothes for recycling
-PC and monitor gone to Freecycle
-Old tv unit gone to Freecycle
-2 bags other carp awaiting collection by Freecycler

    Next weekend's things to do:
-Persuade OH to take stuff to tip/CS and put some other stuff in loft
    -Clean out fridge-freezer
-Buy extra shelving/storage for DS2 room and study
    -Weed and prune front garden.
  • hurray! I just filled three card board boxes full of stuff to take to the charity shop! I got rid of lots of crafting stuff that I haven't used in years, some bags, lots of clothes, and some yarn that I don't know what I was thinking when I bought them, I mean rust colour yarn?? Also halved the number of shoes I had.

Going to pare down our towels and bedding tomorrow to just what we need. Also want to go through my books, and hopefully some more clothes.

I'm determined to get rid of one piece of furniture out of our bedroom by the end of this declutter session!
  • Wooooo, been helping my Aunt & family move house so got her into the decluttering mode...
Ended up doing 40 tip runs (recycling as much as possible) with 50 extra bags of clothes recycled and loads given away!

So proud, it was far more than 100 items in one day, think we smashed the record!!! :cheesy:

  • Filled another box of stuff for the charity. I think I will end up with at least 5 boxes of stuff to give!
  • 4 ebay parcels posted, still waiting for some more to be paid though. But 7 items ending tonight all have bids on, so they will be gone soon as well!
    :j

To keep clutter free in the future, I have created a system for our post, as we tended to have piles of paperwork/invoices/junkmail everywhere! I have invested in a letter rack (£2.99 in TK maxx) all DH's post goes in there to be sorted weekly, all junk mail is immediately recycled, and my post is sorted and filed/recycled everyday.

  • 7 boxes filled and I've ran out of boxes :( I think I may have to transfer some of the clothes into bin bags so I can put 'stuff' into the boxes. Goodness knows how I'm going to get everything to the charity shop!

Have arranged to get rid of some non legal tender coins and foreign coins for the charity shop. Other than that, the garden decluttering continues with a container of plants emptied and planted. Bush pruned to enable suitable location for these.

I haven't posted since May, life including a new job got in the way but I've been gently decluttering - or trying to! Really need a major push now though and hope this thread will once again support this.

Hopefully I'll be back with decluttering lists soon!
