Well a start towards the decluttering made.

I sold 10 items from Soap and Glory Christmas hat boxes for £16 through work - I've used most the other bits/gifted them and got the costs of the boxes back several times over already so pleased with that.

Also a magazine rack and basket we'd had for years, same lady took them both for £4

So 12 items out £20 in.

Going to give selling some stuff a try first and if we don't get anywhere then it can be freecycled etc, may try and persuade OH that a car boot is the way forward!!

I'm the same with collecting cards we've got a big pile behind a living room chair that needs a major sort. I try and keep Christmas, Birthday and Anniversary cards for a year and then after the next Christmas etc go through last years and get rid of most of them. My parents kept my 5th birthday cards from my grandparents, both are signed from Nanny and Grandad, by my 6th birthday both my nans had died and I think that's why I keep them for a year, just in case.

I'm also buying less books - library and friends are the best places for me atm!

Still working through all the files of which some are unfinished projects. This means bits of unwanted info (paper) being recycled acccordingly. In doing so, little "pockets" of space being created so will be eventually better to keep things tidier and accessible; particularly nice as some of the files are still of interest.

Also, have started on listening/watching old or unseen dvd's (newspaper freebies) to then pass on.

A few days of not doing much decluttering, but back on the bandwagon yesterday. Went through a big pile of late-nearly-ex's clothes and sorted them into three sacks. One sack for giving to friend who helps at homeless thingy. One sack of more businessy clothes for charity shop. One sack of stuff that's not worth passing on to go to textiles recycling. The recycling sack has already gone to the recycling centre and the other two sacks are in the boot of the car ready for when I'm next driving to the relevant places. I also recycled a broken airing rack and late-nearly-ex's (broken) laundry-bag-on-metal-stand-thing (not sure how else to describe it) and a large cardboard box that was too dilapidated to use. I'm just keeping a few of late-nearly-ex's things for ds when he grows up: a couple of ties plus his formal stuff - a few bow ties etc in different colours and a silk scarf from when we were students and went to the college ball!

Challenge for today is to find and file house contents insurance paperwork (and get quotes if possible because it's up for renewal) and get bank/CC spreadsheet up to date so I know where I've got to with my money. It shouldn't be a huge task - it's only about 3 weeks since I last did it, although I'd rather be keeping it up to date a bit more often.

CFW - proud to be dealing with my clutter

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

  • Hello - I've AWOL too. Decluttered 2 books to go back to the library today. I love the library, I reserve my books and then I read em and get to hand them back - less clutter for me and no money wasted too. Woohoo.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

  • It's been a loooooong while for me too, and I have done good at keeping the clutter down.. but not been too good with getting rid of more!

Today though I have been on a mission as the in-laws arrive on Monday evening and the spare room was chokka with stuff I've been meaning to sort and sell.... it's been sitting there for ages! so I bagged up all the not so little ones old clothes that don't fit any more (taking out any named designer type stuff that might fetch a decent amount if sold) and freecycled the rest.. two big bags down and another two to be collected tonight hopefully!

I have lots that I have put by in the thinking that I might need them... and to be honest I haven't touched them so They will be going out!

There is a double kitchen cupboard that houses all the bits that were left here when we moved in over 5 years ago - bits that looked like they might be for something.. but in 5 years i've never had to look for anything in there so I think it's about time it all went out! I need the storage space now.. for food stuff.. first year of allotmenting and lots of chutney's and jams have been made!
Trying to make a better life.... If you need me you'll find me at the allotment.
