The Great Declutter Part 2

I had an IN on Saturday! A new unit for my dining room. It is a tallish (5ft or so) oak unit with 2 nice sized drawers at the bottom and a cupboard with 3 shelves at the top. It has housed all of my non get riddable clutter.
I think this is exactly what I need. I have no dressers, units or cupboards of any description downstairs. I need somewhere to put the yellow pages, sellotape, mobile phone chargers etc that are always lying around. My non get riddable clutter.
My super hoarder DH actually cleared the little table next to where he sits. I can actually see the lamp now! Mind you I can no longer sit on the cushion next to him... small steps.
I've got my eye on my big pile of books behind my sofa. I think I might tackle a little bit each evening rather than leave them to the weekend. I have a bookcase in my bedroom completely full of DH's books that he won't throw away. I have asked (insisted) that he clear me one shelf. That means I can house the few books that I really don't want to throw. Hopefully that will inspire me to dispose of the rest.
Well done all of you avid ebayers.0 -
Ooh! I need to join this thread - I've a house full of clutter and no idea where or how to start sorting it out
I need to get myself organised to sort through and get rid of stuff, but I'm an expert procrastinator. Any tips or ideas most welcome, and meanwhile I'm going to start reading my way through.
Glad to have found you :j
Pam
PS One job I did do today was to go through my wardrobe and pull out all the clothes I'm never going to fit in again, ready to go to the charity shop. A small start!0 -
I thought frozen food could last indefinately if it was frozen? IIRC it is just the quality which deteriorates over time so your salmon may go a bit mushy. Hopefully someone with better knowledge can advise you.
Not managed to do any further decluttering but on Sunday when I got out of bed I did all of the washing and ironing so got the kids to put it away after school Monday as that was the first chance (I've been on nights). Hope to finish stripping and waxing my chest tomorrow so that it can be reunited with its bottom half and then isn't cluttering up the kitchen any longer. When it's gone I shall clean the top of my cupboards so that DH can put the pelmets up in the kitchen. Less clutter on my dining room floor!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

I've decided we must decorate the living room next week (have time off work) as we were originally going to do it during the first May bank holiday, and just never got round to it! Will also try and fit some decluttering in, and will definitely be taking the charity bag as it's been sat in the cupboard for about three weeks!0 -
