  • Hi, me again,

Quick update: Noone told me my mess would get worse before it got better! All I wanted to do was clear my birthday cards. Well I started by sorting through each of my 3 children's memory boxes and being RUTHLESS! I had also kept every bit of school work they ever did, every achievement award (almost weekly), every piece of creative artwork or writing, etc. What I chucked filled 2 black bin bags. My bedroom was a tip, memory boxes everywhere, bin bags, piles of cards, dust like you have never breathed in your life, etc. Then the door knocked and I had to stop! Then we were going out so very quickly put it all to one side. I will battle my way into bed tonight! So tomorrow I will finish what I started and hope to report a finished job and one clutter hotspot gone. :T

But seriously... I am so pleased that I have started. "Clear your clutter, clear your mind" :D or my other motto "if in doubt chuck it out" :D

Thanks all for your help. See you tomorrow once I've fought my way out...

Challenge for today is to find and file house contents insurance paperwork (and get quotes if possible because it's up for renewal) and get bank/CC spreadsheet up to date so I know where I've got to with my money. It shouldn't be a huge task - it's only about 3 weeks since I last did it, although I'd rather be keeping it up to date a bit more often.

Got most of this done yesterday evening.

Have searched for insurance renewal notice and can't find it, so will ring up and ask for a replacement. :o

    Spreadsheet up to date :)

No decluttering challenge for me today - having Sunday as a day off from dealing with my house.
    Decluttering challenges for Monday:
    1) Find 10 things in "spare room" (aka place where stuff gets dumped) to get rid of.
    2) Phone up about contents insurance

CFW - proud to be dealing with my clutter

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

  • Phew! Wipes away sweat!

I think I've pretty much done it. My dressing table is clear for the first time in 3 years. I have two spare memory boxes and the tops of my wardrobes where I keep them are cleaned and dust free.

However, I remembered that I also have a very large box up in the loft full of shoe boxes which are memory boxes from years ago. I have dragged it out from the furthest darkest corner of the loft but I'm not going to start on this till next weekend.

So my books behind my sofa will have to wait, as will the cupboard under the stairs, the shed, the....:D

But I'm very pleased to have finished what I set out to do this weekend. Hope everyone feeling some sense of acheivement too. Have a fab Sunday. :T

Not done too much de-cluttering lately, but this weekend I have been taking advantage of Ebay's free listing and have so far listed 49 items, including a leather jacket and 2 leather-look jackets which all take up a lot of room and have not been worn for years, and 2 pairs of shoes in boxes, which have never been worn and are unlikely ever to be worn. I've had a bid on a CD already, had a question about another item, and someone is watching the leather jacket so hopefully they will go, I've still got a lot more to list while it's free, so I'd better get back to it.

  • Not much done.

    Out
Lots of old bank statements/bills/other paper shredded. For recycling.
One kitchen drawer sorted/tidied out (rest of them are ok). Old batteries binned. Didn't realise how many ice cube/food storage bags/tin foil I actually had. (So no more to be bought until next year at least).
Couple kitchen cupboards. Some jars thrown out (due to dates & some contents looking a bit dodgy).

    In
Some stuff from Lidls - 24 pk toilet roll, Heinz Tomato soup, 24pk Diet Irn Bru, smoked salmon & a few other things.

Todays decluttering was much the same of files sorting out e.g. scraps of paper with recipes on being discarded after they have been recorded in the right file. In doing so, handy, as spotted some recipes to help with clearing ingredients "clutter". Otherwise, two small magnets not being used to attach something to the fridge that kept falling down. Also, furniture rearranged so empty drawers were able to accommodate clutter from the top of the stairs. Previously saved carrier bags noticeably less due to all the clearing out.
