Thank you Karmacat and Callisto for the advice. Unfortunately it is brand new things being bought especially for me - another gift appeared today. I will be seeing this particular friend again later in the week so I will have to work out what to say in advance and deal with it because I really love this person and don't want any hurt feelings or a spoiled friendship.

I've had a good start to the month and in the last few days 11 things have gone from the paperwork mountain and 7 general items. I also now have a much clearer idea of what needs doing so my "To Do" list has grown but I don't mind that - I am just so pleased to be getting caught up and organised again.

I'm glad you're getting caught up with it all. I can't help wondering what kind of presents you're being given tho .... unfortunately, I suspect I'd cope really badly with it, i.e. storing in a cupboard and then quietly shoving them over to a charity shop - possibly in another town :p (seriously, I do that sometimes!).

Ooo just had a "Brucie Bonus": got rid of all my music cassettes on Freegle. Didn't think I'd get rid of anything until the weekend. It was an impulse declutter after a brief trip to the loft.

There have been some really inspirational posts today, well done everyone!

    Hi Guys :)

I'm hoping to start decluttering our house as well. No excuses really just myself and OH living here. I just generally hoard things and he has a thing about leaflets :/

We recycle our cardboard/plastic/glass already just need to get rid of excess clothes/toiletries (BOGOF offers are too tempting..)/cleaning products/random junk people gave us when we moved out when they were obviously decluttering!

Just been through my makeup bag and decided I have too many half full lipsticks/lipglosses as I only wear it once a week. Have to resist buying more..but this is a start anyway
    Anyway ramble over!
    Karley :)

have taken a gorgeous bridesmaid dress to the charity shop today, it has been hanging in my attic all year - sorry to see it go but as I won't wear it again be nice for someone else to get use out of it and childrens hospice to get a nice donation, took 3 boxes of books too, nightmare delivering them as was trying to push baby in buggy, books in trolley and keep eye on older child but then a trolley boy came to my rescue and helped me take it all to shop. result! Also did a bootsale yesterday cleared lots of stuff and made £50.20...another result! Loads and loads more to go but will get there, even if by drip drip method.

    3. decluttered paperwork to recycling.
    4. piece of polystyrene binned.
    5. chopped back the encroaching wilderness from the patio and the front path.
    6. got the big chunky bamboo ruins of an armchair from the garden and recycled them into the bin.

    • Loads of recycling - needs taking
    • Some craft type stuff to go to Brownies/Guides
    • Need to sort my clothes out

Not much time to declutter today, but OH helped out and did a wheelbarrow full of recycling and bought my old craft stuff to Brownies/Guides.

Still need to do my clothes but am feeling ruthless!

Out: 2 Ebay items posted, 12 batteries, 2 shower gel bottles, washing liquid bottle, cereal box, cat food box, and some small bits of cardboard all recycled, manky fruit put on compost, and a thank you card from DPs mum given to my dad.

I'm hoping to sort out a bit more of the spare room tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get rid of a lot more stuff.

    Sue.
