Greent, that sounds bad, to wrap up that warmly in this weather - hope you *can* just chill out today.
I could start the numbering tho! I'll be back on at the end of the day to report. I'm afraid I missed the recycling lorry that came round today, but at least most of it is in the garage, not the house2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
How do I convince the boyfriend to let me clear out and declutter his room?
I know, how bad does that sound? But he will never do it, it really wants a doing, and I actually quite enjoy doing things like that when in the right frame of mind. It's calling out to me. But he won't let me as he is afraid I will throw all his stuff away.
Yes, I bloomin' will! I will make you get rid of all the rubbish you had forgotten you ever had, or will never need, or can't remember what it's even for!
In fairness to him he does tidy up and clean especially for me0 -
1. ebay parcel posted.
2. congratulations card posted.
Oops, thats it so far. The day is young.....
CupofChai - hello! To be honest, if you really want to do it, I'd let him have approval on what you want to throw, and ask him to put aside stuff in boxes - tape the boxes up, so he really can't get at the stuff without a real set to, and see if he misses it or still wants in 3 months .... it *might* work2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that so thanks, I will try it on there first.
Out: Posted 2 Ebay parcels today, took a birthday card in for my boss, and had 11 VHS videos collected which were posted on Freecycle. Should have had another 8 items collected, but the person who wanted them didn't turn up!
Pending: Got a bid on another Ebay item which finishes on Sunday.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Right I didn't top 138 items decluttered in June. So will add that to my sig. Didn't quite reach 150 but close enough. Hugs to greent, hope you feel better soon. Take it easy.
I'm also going to set a tough target for July. To get rid of 100 things in 10 days. So that's getting rid of about 10 things a day. There is stuff in the loft and the garage which just needs to go. And it starts right now.
1. Broken old cosmetic box/packaging from a set, sadly not recyclable (bin)
More to follow!Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

I was away for the last few days of the month and wasn't able to improve on my total of 119 out of the 200 for June that I wanted.
Looking at it positively its 119 more things than if I hadn't set a target and the added bonus was that I also decluttered my "to do" list as I was going along, and my email inbox.
Still a long way to go (on to do list and email inbox also) so I will set a more realistic target this month of 50 things from the paperwork mountain and 50 general things.
How do I stop people giving me random presents of things I don't need or want without sounding ungrateful? It seems the more I throw out the more I am given to fill the space. I am decluttering because I had to move somewhere smaller due to ill health and the fewer things I have the easier it will be for me to move around and reach what I need.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -

Target of declutter 100 things in 10 days continues...
8. Silver foil tray laying around, used for special cat food (recycling)
9. Top (charity)
10. Old foot file (yuck!) (bin)
11.12. 2 strong carrier bags to take stuff to charity shop (charity)
13. Toiletries (used up as part of toiletry challenge) (bin)
14. Spare air freshener (taken to work) (recycling)
15. Cardboard packaging from toiletries in stash (recycling)
16. Old vitamin packaging / spare tub (recycling)
17. Perfume cardboard packaging (why am I keeping this crap...) (recycling)
Right that's it for now. Will hunt out more stuff over the weekend.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Thats a real issue, isn't it - I was appalled on my last birthday but one, I was already known within my circle for being a declutterer, and 3 out of 5 gifts were little cuddly toys or knick knacks - I always give presents that can be used, at least! If it isn't even an occasion like that, I'd say something like "thats really kind of you to think of me, I'm really chuffed you did, but I have less space now than I used to // I'm still working at trying to fit into the smaller space I've got now, so I won't be able to take you up on your offer. But I really appreciate it anyway". What do you think?
EDITED TO ADD: one of the reasons I'm downsizing is in the same range - not that I'm ill, but my hands are getting a lot of arthritis, and the day isn't too far off when my garden, which I've only ever marginally kept on top of, is going to be impassable. I need a smaller, flat one, as well as a house thats more manageable, and thats what I've found.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
