Target of declutter 100 things in 10 days continues...

    8. Silver foil tray laying around, used for special cat food (recycling)
    9. Top (charity)
    10. Old foot file (yuck!) (bin)
11.12. 2 strong carrier bags to take stuff to charity shop (charity)
    13. Toiletries (used up as part of toiletry challenge) (bin)
    14. Spare air freshener (taken to work) (recycling)
    15. Cardboard packaging from toiletries in stash (recycling)
    16. Old vitamin packaging / spare tub (recycling)
    17. Perfume cardboard packaging (why am I keeping this crap...) (recycling)

Right that's it for now. Will hunt out more stuff over the weekend.

    18. Xbox accessories (freecycle or charity, not yet decided)
    19. Library book (yay) (library, and outta the house)
    20. Bottle of wine (yay), was saving this as a present but it never seemed to leave the house, went to my friends last night, this decluttering lark is fun! (drunk and bottle to recycling)
    21. Packaging from purchases today, try to keep on top of these things now (recycling)

    More to come!:A

I did start this challenge at the beginning of the year but have got sadly sidetracked. However I've started trying to streamline both my belongings and my silhouette again, so I've been going through some of my books ready to take some to the charity shop. So, prepped and ready to be donated are

    6 books
    1 pair of shoes

I'll take these into town on Monday and get rid of them. I'll try and go through some of my clothes tomorrow :D (the ones that sadly don't fit, anyway) :s

23.24. Curtains that have been sitting in the airing cupboard unused for years (charity)
25.26. Toiletries used up as part of that challenge, packaging not recyclable (bin)

If I want to meet my target of declutter 100 things in 10 days I need to get a move on as I'm slightly behind.

How do I stop people giving me random presents of things I don't need or want without sounding ungrateful? It seems the more I throw out the more I am given to fill the space. I am decluttering because I had to move somewhere smaller due to ill health and the fewer things I have the easier it will be for me to move around and reach what I need.

I've stopped accepting the majority of offers of 'stuff' from people now - I've started using the philosophy of 'have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful', quote from William Morris. I just say 'no thanks - it's not really me - not the right colour/style/etc'. Also, occasionally I've accepted items from someone and then taken it to the charity shop after I've realised I won't use it. I'm assuming if the person wants to get rid of the item, then they won't mind if it goes to a worthy cause!

    In

    New sandals

    Out

Large bag of things to charity shop (even made OH find one thing to put in the bag and he's usually 'Lord of the Hoard'!)

    Smart jacket to Mum

Receipts and a couple of old brochures into recycling

    Me, for lunch :D

In - nothing but some veggies which will go out again for tea tonight :D
Out - some plastic tubs with no reusable life left in them from a kitchen cupboard, 1 now finished bottle of kitchen cleaner spray (I was a real hoarder of cleaning products - now trying to use them up!), bottles to bottle bank.

I've sorted through one cupboard today, and will try to do my clothes drawers if time and space permits :D

I've always been the same. Every time I go to Wilkinsons I pick up cleaning products, especially when they are on offer, (had about 10 bottles of washing up liquid at one point, as I got 2 every time I went in there because they were on offer, now down to my last one), but now I am determined to use them all up before I buy any more. I'm trying to avoid Wilkinsons at the moment, as it's hellish for me to walk around there and avoid buying unnecessary cleaning products and toiletries, lol!

    Hugs
    Sue.
