MORE stuff from the bottom of the wardrobe
MORE stuff from the bottom of the airing cupboard
    MORE stuff from kitchen cupboards

I'm so angry at myself for getting into this clutter zone and am determined that nothing will come into this house unless it's needed rather than wanted. :p

Main parts are done, now I just need to work out where to put the remaining stuff whilst the workmen are here. May have to clutter up one of the sofas with towels and linens... anyway that's a problem for the weekend. As the work is happening in every room I can't just pile them on a bed and leave.

Great to hear of everyone elses endeavours -thanks :T

Karmacat, in the last 6 months: 2 books, 2 cds, 1 apron, 1 pair oven gloves and a wind up lantern.

Bizarrely, the most useful will be the wind up lantern as living out in the sticks we get a lot of power cuts. I do have a very good powerful torch but I'm happy to have a backup. I already have loads of books and cds that I will be getting rid of because I no longer have the space to keep them.

Yesterday's de-cluttering took place in the shed and I got rid of 13 general things. I now have a small toolbox with basic tools in for quick repairs and the big tool box has all the other stuff in that I am unlikely to use myself. I also had a load of tools belonging to a friend which are now sorted out from mine and in another box ready to go next week.

Also some old computer and printer manuals were put in recycling from the paperwork mountain. General total for this month is now 20 and paperwork total 15.

    37. Holey babygro to rag bag
    38-45. clothes to charity bag
    46. pile of bank statements shredded then composted

181 sellers labels finally finished for NCT sale this weekend - I shall be pleased if I get rid of 50% of the things..... hopefully the large and bulky things will go, as they take up more space!!!

  • Hi all, haven't posted in this bit of the forum before, so please be gentle!

Over the past few months I have been trying to declutter mine and OH's rented flat before we move into our very first house together. But as we've never owned a house before, we're also having to buy a lot of new stuff :o Still, we do need all of the new stuff I'm buying :p

Only got a few more bags worth of stuff to get rid of before the move I reckon :D

They won't be missed by the people who've given them to you .... :D I agree, the windup lantern is the most useful. You go with it :D

Ooh! From personal experience - be careful! I used to think to myself, well, thats not just buying for the sake of it, I need that to do "this" job - never did the job, never opened the thing, whatever it was - an awful lot of money got wasted. In addition, you're having to move the things you've just bought, as well as bringing them home - I'd seriously wait a bit, till you see what you *really* need - some things you only need for a bit, or you can get them from freecycle and pass them on later.

    Anyway:
    7. 3 cardboard DVD covers into the recycling - DVDs have gone into a DVD big box, take up no space at all now;
    8. plastic CD cover out - same solution!

Its not much, but you know how the mantra goes - every little helps :rotfl:

    The house..iv'e had enough!

We moved almost 3 years ago from a small 2 bed house to another 2 bed house but this one is bigger. We moved minimal stuff and replaced most of it with new..just stuff we needed and was fine. I am a bit of a control freak and like everything in it's place and get stressed if there is stuff everywhere..well tonight is that stress night.

For example i have just tried to close our drawer in the kitchen which has teatowels in, i couldn't and took them all out, there are 13 in there minus the 4 iv'e just folded upstairs and the ones in the dryer in the garage grr..so i have put the new ones in the drawer and the rest are for the bunny or the car!

Have just opened a cupboard in the kitchen that dh just throws everything in, we have 4 bags of pasta, 13 bags of rice (boil in bag as find it easier for portions!), numerous packs of stuff..our problem is we go shopping too much and the cupboards are overflowing still as we have clamped down and eaten loads.

the cleaning cupboard under the sink won't close, we have about 4 surface sprays, enough washing tablets to wash the countrys clothes, bulbs ..

Books dh insists it is the only thing he likes to have in the house which is fine BUT we have 100+ books crammed on a bookcase and about 6 in each bathroom..how many books can you read at once..some have sat there since we moved in yet he insists they are 'needed'..i have just put some in the garage and will see how long it takes him to notice!

i could go on but seriously had enough! Is it me or is a clutter free house a stress free house?!!

came from a cluttered house and hate it,
max of two bottles of cleaning stuff in the kitchen or bathroom rest goes in the garage (do stock up when its cheap)
day to day food one pack in the kitchen, less than every day goes in the store and extra tins etc go in the garage, extra tea towels etc boxed up in the attic only a few out at a time
definitely agree clutter free = stress free
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D
