Thats halfterm over so my decluttering will slow down a bit now. The bedrooms certaintly look a lot better. Quite a few ins over the last couple of days mostly clothes for me and the children but as we had decluttered all wardrobes and drawers the new stuff went in easily and we only bought what we needed.

Five weeks until the next holiday when we are planning on doing some painting/decorating hopefully the weather will have improved by then.

    Happy decluttering everyone.

  • Well..... at long last all the soft toys have been picked up by the fundraising co-ordinator of the charity they are for. So I've done a whole week's challenge in one afternoon, as there were over 100 of them! We've had these cluttering up the spare bedroom since 30th December, most of them in grandson's cot. Now he can sleep in there without being frightened by the giant ones!

Also got rid of a box full of craft bits to someone on Freecycle. Still loads more to go, but I'm getting there.

  • Decluttering slowing down here... I've broken the back of most rooms in the house and really its down to the loft and the shed which I feel need to wait until Spring and the bootsale season. I'm not brave like some of you & can't face doing them at the moment. So for the time being I'm going to concentrate on keeping on top of things and making sure I don't bring too much stuff into the house. I managed to list a few things on Ebay though.

Good news - my local council are starting to do doorstep recycling for fabric & shoes - that's in addition to mixed recycling, composting & garden waste. They're really good for this kind of thing.

For the last couple of days:

    IN
trousers, top & socks for DS (belated Xmas Present from his Aunt)
Lovely velvet flower brooch (belated birthday present for me from friend)
Celtic pewter brooch (bought in Charity Shop only hours before I received one from friend)
Fancy bodywash - also bought in CS - will put away in gift stash
    OUT
Necklace& bracelet set - unwanted gift returned to shop
    PENDING OUT
Extremely cute "Daisy Roots" booties for cousin's new baby - got them in exchange for the necklace set I returned.
    Ebay parcel

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Hi Folks. I started off quite well this week but then the Child Psych cancelled and it all ground to a halt. I've managed to list a pile of books on Amazon and two have sold so that is a start. Also my DS's bed has gone and been replaced with bunk beds. That will save me hauling out a camp bed and bedding several times a week as my Niece and Nephew frequently stay over.

Unfortunately I have quite badly hurt my lower back so it looks like a few days off work unpaid for me :-( But on a bright note I can find a few items to go. So please can I join you guys on the 100 items in 10 days challenge?

    Happy de-cluttering everyone!!

    Good day for me here....

    Sorted out the shed!!!!!!!!!!!!!:T:T:T:T

This is the biggy i have been dreading for a long time but i braved the dead spiders and hauled everything out!! Put only about quarter of the stuff back in!!!

One quarter was thrown out or recycled (mainly cardboard) so three binbags gone! A quarter was to be put in the loft which isn't so damp and the remaining left for ebay! Probably about 15 items to list on tuesday!

    A good feeling today!

IN: nothing (except the bits going into the loft from the shed!!)

Sorting out the loft next

Not been on for a week or so but still doing ok. Spent all day in the garden - managed to cut loads of scaffolding planks for the fire together with about 20 fence posts that were kicking about!! The garage is now full of wood and looks a mess (still not got the new car in!) but it wont take long to get rid of the wood.

Freecycled a pile of bricks and drainage pipes so the garden will be looking a lot better when the snow has gone!

Thanks for all your support on here, good luck all!
  • Hi all

I've been a lurker on this thread for a while but thought it was finally time to join in!

We have been having our whole house renovated and it has been a nightmare! We have had a new kitchen, complete redecoration from top to bottom, new carpets throughout the house and new furniture in every room!! We have had to do some MAJOR decluttering to carry all this out and you wouldn't believe the amount of stuff that has come out of here.

In the last 8 weeks we have had three, yes three 8 yard skips () filled and re-filled. Several car fulls to the charity shop and another tonne of stuff on freecycle. I have also got rid of about eight black sacks of assorted adult/kids clothes to charity etc.

Can you believe that I am still struggling to find homes for things though!

Our house now looks beautiful and I can actual have someone in without apologising about the state of it! We are determined never to let it get back to what it was. :A

    PENDING OUT
another black sack of clothes :o
    What the Deuce?
  • In

Two carrier bags of clothes/accessories from my sister (she has been on a shopping spree and passed some of her old stuff to me)

Telescope and pc speakers from uncle who has had a clearout

    Magazine

    Out

Erm, nothing other than normal recycling. Have been too busy benefiting from other people's decluttering to do any of my own this week! :o Will attempt to do a couple of hours sorting through boxes one evening this week to make up for it!

    Pending Out

    Two tops into charity bag
    One item listed on Ebay
  • G'd evening...

Have been a bit carp recently with my decluttering efforts but will start posting again this week to keep myself motivated and hopefully send out more than I bring in. I'm going to aim for 100 things in 10 days too - even if I manage to get rid of half that amount it'll be better than nothing :)
