Evening all
This is my first post on MSE. My partner is addicted to searching through the MSE forums and as a result has purchased a bread maker and slow cooker to save us some pennies in the long run. So very proud of him being active in saving money :j
I hope that you don't mind me joining this Declutter Thread, even though i am a bit late starting. 2010 is about us decluttering and saving as much money as we can to pay off debts. A no spend year if poss. We are only doing a couple of camping trips this year and that is it on the holiday front.
Since november i have been decluttering. I have sold a lot on ebay. In nov/dec i reckon i got rid of about 50 items on ebay and the money paid for our childrens main presents for xmas which was pretty satisfying.
This year i am continuing the good work. So far i have sorted my under stairs cupboard and in the last month i have listed lots of items on ebay. Some books are not shifting but i will just keep relisting and they will go eventually. We have raised £180 this year so far selling our stuff on ebay. £95 has just been used to purchase our dehumidifier which our house really needs. This is going to be our last big spend (hopefully) So now any proceeds will go towards paying off my NEXT account.

Morning everyone and welcome newbies....
I had a really productive day yesterday sorting, filing and throwing away paperwork!
I found some bank statements of mine from 1998  why on earth I had kept them for so long I don't know. There is a little bit more work to do which I plan to do today but apart from that I'm really pleased with the results. OH couldn't believe how tidy it was (office / spare room) when he got home yesterday, his job now is to burn/shred important documents sometime over the weekend as I've done the rest.
In: nowt apart from post (food shopping will follow later)
Out:
Plastic storage box full to the brim of paper to be recycled
Plastic storage box full to the brim of paper to be burned / shredded
Bag of books taken to the charity book shop
Lots of pens, broken pencils, general carp from the office = bin!
Pending:
Another few hours sorting the final few bits in the office.
Have a good weekend everyone!0 -
Hello to all declutterers
More sorting out boxes of books for me today and tomorrow. We are hoping that today we will have thinned out to the books we are keeping for the move.
Thanks for all the inspiration from everyone
I hope you don't mind but I follow a few good simple living/decluttering/minimalist blogs etc and wondered if you would be interested in them too as I find them really good for motivation. They are:
unclutterer.com
simpleliving.net (good forum)

Have a good weekend to you all.
I should stop looking on MSE and start sorting (I will, I will, I will)
