OK then.... I'm starting officially tomorrow and will post piccies here of what I've decluttered. Had a head start today as someone is coming to pick up around 200 soft toys that I've been given for our charity stalls! Currently in black bags in grandson's cot in the spare room, that hubby is trying to decorate! So I won't be sorry to see the back of those!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

The house feels so much better to me, or am I imagining it :rotfl:however I do feel I need to do a little bit more so may start the 100 things in 10 days challenge..
No, I don't think you are imagining it, I feel the same after a good declutter. Clutter isn't only physical, it's also emotional, especially if things have been bought for you or have a special memory. Once you can let go of them, and are no longer storing things that are an emotional burden, you do feel so much better. (That's what I've read anyway.... seems to work for me). I've really agonised over getting rid of some of my craft stash, but the truth is that I've moved away from cardmaking now onto sewing, and there's just no room for both stashes!
I love pretty things, therefore there are stacks of beautiful papers, vellum, ribbon, sparkles etc. but in reality I will never use it all. I don't feel I can move forward until I have downsized at least half of it. It's taking a long time as I go through it and keep some (far too much still) and still don't have room for all my fabric and sewing stuff in the same room! I think I had some sort of obsessive compulsive addiction where I just had to keep buying stuff, and now I'm recovered (I can go into a craft shop and not buy a thing!). But I still get a guilty feeling every time I walk into my craft room. I was the same with fabric, but again, I've recovered and can go in a fabric shop and not be tempted. (Think mainly because I won't pay the exorbitant prices Hobbycraft and John Lewis want for 100% cotton!. If I was in the US I'd probably go beserk again!).
Ooops, sorry, been rambling..... anyway, let's all get on it and see how much stuff we can shift out of our houses next week!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Before Christmas I actually resigned myself to the fact that all of the boys HAVE to read whilst on the toilet and so bought magaazine racks for them! Sometimes I think its not just about decluttering but also about resigning yourself to the fact that some things wont change so its just about oranising them better - DH and DS1 always have at least 2 books on the go at any one time!
!
I have this as well so bought a toilet roll holder/magazine rack combined which hangs on the back of the door; it also holds 2 rolls so really shouldn't run out.
In - wet clothes from ds2 playing in the snow (2 sets so far)
Out - recycling bin ready for tomorrow
bag of bits of non-recyclable plastic
Pending - glass recycling to bottle bank
plastics to Household Waste Recycling Centre (hwrc) which aren't collected kerbside
3 bags of clothes for charity shopMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -

I think I will: get rid of 100 things in 10 days focusing on certain rooms more than others. For me the kitchen, lounge and master bedroom are the toughest. Clearly if I see clutter in other rooms, it will be dealt with(!) but I must focus on these rooms.
And everyone round to debidoodle's for dinner!
I will join in if that's OK - I saw it in your sig & thought 'thats a good idea!'
Cleared more stuff from the garage so have a ton of stuff to sort through tomorrow. Plus I have loads of filing & shredding to do so that will help my targetA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Hi
I would love to join in if I may, I am hoping to move house soon back to the UK and need to clear out as much junk as possible as it costs a fortune to ship and there is no point in paying to ship stuff I will not use anyway!
I made a start on friday and burnt lots of paperwork, also been making lots of piles for a car boot sale hopefully next sunday weather permitting.
I am so impressed by the posters on here who list dozens of items on ebay - I can't seem to get to grips with it at the moment, maybe when I can see the wood for the trees!!
Off to sneak into DD's bedroom to snaffle a few things - she is a terrible hoarder! I think she is in training to feature on How Clean is Your House!!!0 -

Whereabouts are you living now? Is it any easier to recycle/freecycle stuff abroad?

OOOOh I love that programme, I could sit and watch it all day! In fact I've just been watching one, and it makes me feel that my house isn't that bad after all!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I am living in Portugal at the moment and although there are plenty of bottle banks for glass, plastic and paper not many people use them! There is no freecycle although if you leave something by the communal bins it usually gets picked up. Some people make a living here just trawling through the bins for stuff.
My Daughter loves the programme but draws no comparison to any of the people on it!!!0
