  • G'd evening...

Have been a bit carp recently with my decluttering efforts but will start posting again this week to keep myself motivated and hopefully send out more than I bring in. I'm going to aim for 100 things in 10 days too - even if I manage to get rid of half that amount it'll be better than nothing :)

Absolutely..... this challenge isn't a race or a competition, and even if you only declutter 10 items overall, it's still 10 less in your house! Just do what you can and revel in the good feeling you get from letting it go!! Good luck.

Morning all & welcome all the new declutter's

I have 2 weeks until I start my new job, I resigned from my previous job on the Friday and broke my ankle on the Saturday. On the plus side I managed to obtain new employment whilst in plaster so the next couple of weeks I need to get on top of the last little bits in the house.

Yesterday I managed to fill 9 photo albums, I have one and a half albums left and a box of odds & sods photos to sort.

    PENDING

Today hubby will pop out and buy some plastic sleeves so I can finish DD's nursery, school years folder.

Need to get in the loft today and tidy and put away stuff that has been sent up there in the last couple of weeks.

DD is home on Friday and has promised faithfully to sort the drawers under the wardrobe & chest of drawers of clothes. Some she will put on Ebay, charity shop & clothing bank.

My Ebay pending is now in storage boxes in the spare bedroom as opposed to be being thrown everywhere on the bed, under the bed etc.....

That's it for now, happy decluttering :D

  • I've been lurking....

Me and DH have been de-cluttering and letting go of our bad/impulse purchases. The stuff that's 'too good' or unique for the charity shop is being sold on an internet auction site. My first item sold buy it now within a day for £80! Can't be bad. Spurred me on to get rid of more clutter. I am thinking that a realistic starting price or BIN price gives the items more authenticity. If something looks too cheap then I wonder why someone would sell a branded item that is new for a starting price of 99p when a realistic price is just less than half of its shop cost. No messing around waiting to snipe. If it's a reasonable price then someone who know's its true value will just buy it.

I bought two magazines this week. Not good. I also bought a book that I already own, which just goes to show that I don't know what I've got so should stop impulse-buying!!

  • good morning there - a snowy morning it is here...

A little bit of decluttering over the weekend and today:

In: nothing edit: post just arrived, free encyclopedia on cdrom which I don't want :S, correspondence, junk mail

    Out:
junk mail and envelope and junk leaflets that came with the "correspondence".
    2 ebay parcels
rubbish and recycling day : 2 black binbags (included a decluttered tatty old backpack with broken strap and some old vhs tapes and other bits of junk that were in the backpack), 1 organics/cardboard sack, 1 plastics bag, 1 tins bag, 1 black box filled with paper/magazines/brochures
pile of old magazines that had been hiding in our garage for years (went out in the black box)

    pending out:
some raggy clothes and slippers put in a bag in readiness for when we next receive a genuine (rag) clothing collection bag :)
some large broken items stacked up for next trip to recycling centre
found a forgotten bag of good clothes stored away, must give to charity shop or put in next genuine (good) clothing collection bag

to do list for this week:
    file the just-received correspondence
seeing mention of photographs in this topic - i have a box full which i almost never look at. surely time for me to sort through it and put chosen ones in an album and throw away the rest ? painful to throw away memories.... but what's the point of just "keeping" them all in a box unlooked at?
sort through some old video tapes - if they still play fine, take them to a charity shop, (have a few that I might try on ebay first)
find out if I can bin/charity shop the unwanted free CD, or if I need to return it somewhere

    Ok,

    So from this weekends list:

    • [STRIKE]Try and get all the recycling and rubbish out of the house - we were out most of last weekend so it didn't quite happen.[/STRIKE]
    • Get rest of plants out of dining room into garden and tray they are in back in garage!
    • [STRIKE]Sort clothes on bedroom floor :o do washing and ironing and all put away :A[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Sort all the stuff for our music group which is in the hallway still. Work out what needs to go back and get it ready to put in the car on Sunday night.[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]get rid of tv - just put it on freecycle.[/STRIKE]
    • List another 6 or so things on ebay.
4 out of 6 done not bad, others not achieved with OH got a bit carried away with
his clearing and painting the garage plan so spent a lot of time out there.

So out in the bins general rubbish out of garage, but only filled one charity sack (I know I shouldn't use them as waste bags but if they never collect!) and recycling too and the work bench made up - looks really good :-)

Only things in were paint and paint related, never even made it to the shops so we had a store cupboard challenge all weekend, 2 pizzas, leftover lamb which had been minced and frozen, last of the potatoes and 2 reduced ready meals have all gone from the freezer now!

I'm going to join in the 100 things in 10 days too, starting today.

    Good luck everyone.
