The Great Declutter Part 2

OK, I'm watching the link that velocity girl left. I'm 4 mins 24 sec in and I need too break because I'm getting tight chested. This is my Mother with her LP's, my Uncle (who brought me up) with his computer stuff and my DH with everything. This is my life so far and I've never had control!!!!!
I'll leave this post and reply further after watching mre, as I feel the need. (So far looks fairly clean- think that's what made it more chest tightening?).
So I appear to be on the second man. I've stopped at 6.01 this is my DH when I met him. The clutter has stopped a little because I chuck it all and the debt has stopped because he had an inheritance (which was HIS and HIS alone- MIL's words.) and because I put the family on a budget. Ok, onwards. Not liking this at all....
OK. Got to the end of man 2. This is soo sad. At least he can see the issue though and seems to want to get out of it.
10.52, the lady. New tights. So sad- probably from poverty? but still so sad. OMG, the cotton wool- why? Oh god, look at her bed! OMG, I'm gasping aloud at all these things that are weighing this poor girl down. Ok finished hers. So very very sad.
15.49 mins. The phone rings on man 3. He has pictures and maps around. What is he trying to escape? 16.26- the sweat on his forhead! One stressed individual. 17.26- he's just said he think that there is something missing. He always buys travel books.
This mans house is making me weep. I don't think he knows where to start. Oh lordy, watching him going to sleep. Oh my. Speechless.
Oh lordy. My initial wonder is why these people have nobody to help them get rid of stuff. Then I think about the issues we all have with getting families on board.
I can't talk any further- just speechless. And sad.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

I felt the same, I was amazed with the man at the minidisc players, that was me (but not to such a bad extente) - I had to have the latest gadgets (I didn't buy loads of the same thing tho) but I do stupid stuff like buying an ipod then selling it for a loss just cos I wanted a different memory capacity. Sheer madness! Have to admit while I was watching this I was looking about my computer desk seeing what I could sell or bin - the film made me quite teary-eyed too!NSD November 1/20 :money:

on sunday we emptied the bookcase in the lounge and cleaned it thoroughly for the first time in about 10 years!!!:o:o
We sorted through the contents and got rid of a lot of stuff - in garage pending charity collection.
OH decided to file his scale model aircraft magazines in the garage (hooray!)
Moved said bookcase to other side of room and stripped some more grotty wallpaper. Moved telly to more sensible place:T:)!
Looks like my aim of not letting the CD racks in is going to happen - last night a load of CDs were unpacked onto the nice empty shelves in the bookcase. They won't all fit in there...but...well lets say I'm working on it:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:!!!!!!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Morning all, loads of decluttering (and munching!) going on! Will report back later. I achieved 90 things in 7 days, so didn't meet my target of 140 things. But hey it pushed me to get rid of 90 things. Am just deliberating my next declutter challenge.
Well done paybacktime2008, can see you're up to 38 items. Woo-hoo! Hope you meet your target of 150 things. Keep going it will be worth it!
Hey charlies_mum, I have quite a few books. I force myself to use the local library to ensure I read them and only buy them if I really like them. It's a really useful way of (for my library) of spending no money to keep up with the latest books.
Good to see you making some money FlickeringEmber out of clutter!
Hi gsyezz, hope you get that stuff to the charity shop. I often put bits destined for the cs in the garage or, better, in the boot of the car. Feels so good when they're gone!
in spired2, do you have a salavation army charity shop near you? They often donate clothes free to the homeless and desperately need coats this time of year. :A
Hi peedie, I'm a b*ggar for keeping shoe boxes too. And they take up so much room!
MsHalfull I've done some of that relocating stuff back to you, such as pens and stuff. As well as wipes (even old face wipes) to clean my desk.
Hi Hippygirl, more ebaying, woo-hoo!
MegsMum, my spare rooms are better after all my declutter challenges but gotta be reorganised into rooms again. Better furniture/storage that sort of thing.
Emptynester, I keep forgetting I can recycle textra packs (those cartons), thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for the link melli. Will read that later.
Oooh, will catch up with everyone else later!! Great to see lots of us decluttering away. :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Victoriaplum - I had a similar dilemma re: feeling like I should be saving stuff up to sell (& in my case not feeling motivated to sell it - dislike selling on Ebay & the bootsale season seems a long way off) - I've found that starting the decluttering & giving stuff away etc has made me feel less "stuck" and I'm really enjoying the process and get a huge sense of achievement from it & from posting my progress on here. I don't feel that I've regretted anything I've "let go of" so far - mind you I'll probably still have enough stuff to do half a dozen bootsales when the time comes.
I have the same problem, but trying to tackle it slowly! However, not a good day yesterday....

i'm not that bad but i do have my moments.
Shocking but compulsive viewing. These are extreme cases but highlight how bad things can get. Apart from the clothes strewn all over my bedroom floor, things aren't quite at that stage here! Realised I call myself a hoarder but probably more of a clutterer as its not quite to the ceiling.
Very moving to watch and so sad for the last case - he really needs help. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
