  • I made a pact with best mate last night that I will declutter and report back to ehr on my progress as I cant see me parting with stuff I think I can sell when I finally get to a bootsale otherwise, I think the psychological stress for me keeping all this stuff is more damaging than any money lost! Had a long chat to her last night about how I feel there is just an overwhelming amount, how it gets m down, so am gonna have to bite bullet with this, am envious that she can actually see her floors and her house is calming mine like a bomb went off so......today I have put a baby playarch and hi-fi on freegle so can find new homes I have a box full of stuff for tip and offered my 'backup' pc monitor to someone doing a pc repair course also on freegle. I plan to get rid every time a charity bag comes thru door or take a bag when I go into town and to clear a drawer or cupboard a day.
  • Mumof2 and Charlies Mum - Congrats on pending and wished for hens. Hope your girls settle in as well as mine did and that you have as much fun watching them, playing with them and having fun recycling greens into eggs and lovely poo for your compost heap and eventually veggies. I have 5 (black rock) hens at the mo and they only cost about £2 a week to feed (organic layers pellets) and give more than 25 eggs a week. I would recommend Katie Thear's book for advice.
    Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents

I NEVER get any of these bags through the door, not fair! Think its cos I live out in the sticks and they cant be bothered to drop them off and collect....shame as I've got plenty of things to fill them!

Skis?. Please tell me they were used once upon a time and not just gifted :rotfl:.
Was hoping to finish my tiling tomorrow but can't so I'll get rid of some junk instead :D.

They were used honest - I got them about 15 years ago and tried to stop skiing about 5 years ago when my knees gave out. They were out of date anyway, new skis are easier to use, which is my DH bought me a new pair (that I didn't actually want)

Ooooh very jealous of the chickens and Eglu.

Two huge plastic boxes full of paper went to the recycling today.

Just going to go and see what I can get rid of from DS's room. I have been given some bunk beds for him so a good excuse to overhaul his room. Sadly he takes after me in the hoarding stakes...

    OUT
    3 X Ebay parcels
DS rubbish school shoes returned to Sport's Direct Head Office (fingers crossed that they will accept the return) - still not sure they will even after exchanges of emails.

Victoriaplum - I had a similar dilemma re: feeling like I should be saving stuff up to sell (& in my case not feeling motivated to sell it - dislike selling on Ebay & the bootsale season seems a long way off) - I've found that starting the decluttering & giving stuff away etc has made me feel less "stuck" and I'm really enjoying the process and get a huge sense of achievement from it & from posting my progress on here. I don't feel that I've regretted anything I've "let go of" so far - mind you I'll probably still have enough stuff to do half a dozen bootsales when the time comes. :o
