The Great Declutter Part 2

  • My de-cluttering is proving a lot more successful than my money-making (I also do the make £10 a day challenge on MSE). I didn't feel right today until I did a little bit of de-cluttering. Focussed on my kitchen today - not a huge challenge as its a tiny kitchen & I'm not the world's most enthusiastic cook. Decluttered the craft corner in my back room & found a watch & pair of earrings that I'd been looking for. :)

    Since Friday:
    IN
T Shirt & Trousers for DS - Charity Shop
Mascara - thought I'd lost it but found it in a pen holder in work :)
    OUT
2 X Ebay items sold for cousin
    Loads of Recycling
    Pending Out
Big bundle of plastic bags for charity shop - including a ridiculous amount of bags for life
A collection of pens that have found their way from work to home - to be returned
Box of stuff for Charity Shop including 4 vases - I've developed an allergy to flowers in the last couple of years so finally have to face up to that - still kept 3 small ones that I couldn't bear to part with though. :o
Some Ebay items waiting for payment (all sold for other people)

I've been reading a book called "A Life Stripped Bare" someone's year long experiment trying to live as ethically as possible. It's very entertaining and interesting and has got me thinking. I'm very good at recycling (very easy where I live as we've got door-step recycling and green waste collection) but I'm starting to realise just how much stuff I buy comes in un-necessary packaging - especially food - I could definitely make better choices - it feels achievable to do something about that.

And finally a confession -I listed a rattan coffee table on Ebay last week - with 24 hours to go it had no bids & only 4 watchers - I've got a huge emotional attachment to it & couldn't bear to see it go for next to nothing so I ended the item early. So now its still stuck in my box room where it's sat for the last 3 years propped up on its side because it doesn't fit anywhere. :o I need therapy for this one.

Can anyone tell me why I can't see the avatars people talk about. I'm not blind but may be stupid.

You might have your settings as not to show avatars, mine was like that. If you go here and scroll down to 'Thread Display Options' you'll have a tickbox to choose whether you want to show avatars or not.
    Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
  • Monday Monday!! It sounds like you guys had a good weekend and are really get on top of the clutter and showing great determination not to let the stuff take over again. I have been away for the w/end (visiting the wrinklies) and my little car is in the garage - btw I argued with them and miracles! they "discovered" the part that failed had a 2 yr warranty and was covered parts and labour - having previously told me it was 1 yr (AND SPEAKING TO ME AS THO I WAS AN IDIOT) - so thats a virtual £500 saved - and NO I am not going to spend it with the twisted logic of virtual saving but am going to stash it away (virtually of course!)
On my lists today - THE SPARE ROOM ... hmmm have a roll of black bags at the ready, marigolds, damp cloths etc etc. Wish me luck!
Other good news - 1lb gone since last week despite snow/ice/no transport meaning no running or yoga.
    Take care and get gleaming.

I had similar - with a little dress my DD had outgrown:rotfl: Took me a few days to force it into a jiffy bag and send it off!

DH let me have a lay in on Valentines Day even though it was his turn. Came downstairs to find he had been tidying up. Cleared worksurface and most of floor - thanks hubs.

    IN:
    Flowers from DH

    OUT:
    Both bins practically full
    Lots pending for ebay
