  • I do have a lady who goes to a group at the local hospice, she helps run it and they make cards to sell in aid of the hospice, so she's had a lot of my stuff. Also my mum has had a lot - but she's 85, and has more than me!! I can't help thinking that one day it's all going to come back to me, so I try to encourage her not to have it, LOL! I have given card and stickers to a local school and a scout group too... but however much I give away, what's left seems to breed behind my back, and it seems there's still as much left as what I've given away!

I have actually been lucky and sold some bits on Ebay these past couple of weeks, but it's very slow going...
Hi loopychriss, yey! Loads of craft stuff gone, that's great! I bet the hospice is really grateful for these hand made bits. Do you know anyone with kids who might appreciate some stuff - especially for any rainy days over half term? Perhaps even a neighbour? Or someone at work? Keep up the great work, just think you'll soon have you have a craft room of stuff you love and use. :A

  • I mean you were my inspiration!
Ah kind words thank you paybacktime2008. My inspiration was loopychriss who spoke about getting rid of 100 things in 10 days. I've just jiggled around with that idea. In January my target was declutter 300 things in 30 days. I came close with about 280! Then this past week I've been doing 140 things in 7 days. I keep thinking I'm going to struggle with these targets and then I open a drawer, a box, go in the garage or open the wardrobe and away you go.

Right today I got rid of 17 things. Woo-hoo!
    3 x XP boxes, recycled
6 x Toiletries, used up or charity
    Recycling (lots)
    Rubbish (lots), binned
An unused notebook, Magazines, old newspapers, charity or recycled
    Chocs/Wine (donated as a gift!)
And lots of other little bits.

Am behind my target but hey that's what goals are about, aiming high and doing the best you can.:A

Do you remember that programme called the Life Laundry? It was only when people had all their stuff out of the cluttered rooms could they truly see what they've got.
(Snipped) This is what I do, espescially with DH because he can't quite believe it when he sees all of the stuff piled up in the middle of the lounge floor. In the case of his clothes, when we were sorting, we had to spread into the dining room too. That didn't count undies either. He kept saying he didn't have lots of stuff until I got it ALL out and spread it out. Even the kids 5 & 7 were aghast at the amount of stuff there was.
In the words of DD "Wow Daddy, Mummy was right, you really have got loads of stuff. And it's all horrid!!!!!!" :D.
Being little fashionistas they kept making him get rid of stuff he wanted to keep.

    Hiya
I want to get this out in the open....... I AM A CLUTTER BUG....and a HORDER.......but not a happy one. At last I have to admit openly that this can not continue. Im fed up of my home looking like a store room of a junk shop:(

Gosh I feel better for getting that out in the open.

I have this week off and with the exception of going to the dentist on Monday morning I intend to start to get to grips with all this stuff all the week through!!!!!
I live on my own and so it has to be just me that has accumulated all this stuff. I swear that some of it must creep in over night as some of the toot I dont recognise.

I've been reading peoples posts on this thread and feel inspired to get a grip, so thank you one and all:A
I'll let you know how I get on.
  • Hi everyone,
I've really got into this decluttering these past few days now I've some time on my hands :o.

Managed to declutter the dining room on Friday, we were having friends round for a takeaway and I decided it was time to sort this room out. So when I eventually found the table, I laid it for 4 and lit some candles, needless to say our friends were gobsmacked by the tranformation. Our dining room had been a dumping ground for the last 6 months!! :j

    In:
    Post
Red roses this morning from my lovely OH

    Out:
General carp from dining room (put away and sorted)
Lamp - bin (it was broken and taking up space in the dining room)
Tub of paint virtually empty - bin (touched up a few marks on the wall)

Thanks for the advice mineallmine that's great and welcome to Peedie!
    Have a good day.

Well I kinda cheated this week. was fed up so thought I have to do the mount everest or ironing but got to the stage that if i didn't want to iron it i'll charity shop it......2 black bags full out after all it took a long time to build that mountain and especially the stuff at the bottom has been there an obscene amount of time so i thought not needed or looked for it so obviously dont need it. Also sorted a big bag of DS's clothes out for SIL and gave her a big mothercare bag full.

    Now what for today?
I am going to sort one of the drawers in my craft room and make up kits for post pals (they are sick children who are in and out of hospital and love having post)
I think toys need sorting too
