The Great Declutter Part 2
Comments

On a bit of a roll at the moment. Started on DS3 bedroom last night and he agreed to part with a load old stuff (rubbish) Managed to get about 2/3rds black bag out to the bin as well as some recycling.
This morning I'm going through the bookshelves, I've sorted a bag for school (work) and got a box for the charity shop.
It's our recycling/wheelie bin collection day tomorrow so getting as much as possible done.
IN...............nothing
Everyone seems to be doing really well.

Hi everyone I would like to join this challenge starting officially tomorrow 1st of Feb - I have made a small start today by shredding a bag of paperwork.
Although I'm a little late in starting 2010 will be the year I finally get the house decluttered and redecorated, there is me, OH and two children 9 and 5, a dog, two cats and two goldfish (who to be fair the pets don't really contribute to the chaos!). We all are guilty of being hoarders, toys, books, hobbies and craft supplies etc and are dreaming of a new life in the country within the next couple of years but it will take some time and effort to sort through the clutter that has built up over the last 10 years or so.0 -
Hi guys - my husband of 20 years left me today:
So.....
In: new set of bedding for DD's room
Out: One Husband, one double bed, two bunk beds, two chests of drawers, a bureau, assorted towels, cutlery and crockery, a stereo, a tv, two chairs and a wicker sofa that were stored in the garage, assorted "stuff" (too numerous to mention) plenty of tears, and a fair bit of rage.
It's the most dramatic decluttering I've ever been involved in, but the house looks a whole lot biggerEvery cloud and all that.......
greent, I hope you make a full recovery very soon xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Wow, what an inspiring thread! Count me in! Been off work all this week and promised myself I'd start decluttering my house... moved in at the end of Nov and still have a spare room, understairs and shed full of boxes! Haven't made much progress though - then last night I started reading this thread and a few hours later when I couldn't sleep, I made a start and sorted 4 boxes in my kitchen into 2 (all stuff belonging to OH, who doesn't live with me, but you'd think he did by the amount of his cr*p that is in my house!)
Gonna start again soon, just had a late brunch to give me some sustenance for the task ahead, want to finish the understairs and make some headway in the spare room too... oh and there's a little bookshelf in the lounge with all sorts on it, that needs doing too.
Been reading through this thread some more for motivation (not putting off the decluttering, honest!) - very jealous at all the people who have stuff they can sell on Ebay, all my junk really is JUNK, either too old or broken or just plain knackered to sell or even give to charity. Do have loads of books that I should go through so they'll probably go to charity but everything else will be for the bin! Wish me luck!

Excellent mornings work, my smashing son-in-law has moved my computer from the huge big wooden unit in my study to the other side of the room, and I am slowly whacking the bejesus out of said ugly wooden unit so I can take it bit by bit to the tip tomorrow .So much more room I can hardly believe it.0

Been re-inspired and cleared out 3 kitchen cupboards and got rid of a LOAD of unused/unwanted stuff. Now got tons more space. :j And I rearranged the order so that all the china is in one place and all the dry goods are in another. No more meandering around the kitchen.
Next on the list is the clearing out of the gadgets and unused baking utensils. Empty nest = not as much baking and some tins have been sitting doing nothing for about 10 years so I'm not going to keep them 'just in case'. Will be a toughie but I can do it.0 -
Good Luck Hypno06, hope the road ahead is good to you.
I have had a cracking weekend, sorted the office yesterday morning - finally filed away all the mail that has been lying about since November! Also sorted out loads of paperwork - didn't really need all the house move stuff from 22 years ago (we don't even live in the same house!). All ready for a big bonfire later.
DD moved bedrooms three months ago and she was forced to sort out bits and bobs she left in the old room - more for the bonfire and a big bag for the charity shop.
Keep going everyone, you give me loads of inspiration to carry on.0 -
