Thanks for the link, interesting article. If you look back through this thread you can probably find all the 'helpful hints' at the bottom though - I know I've posted 3 of them myself.

I think with clutter there often needs to be a trigger e.g. not being able to find a really important piece of paperwork, a change in circumstances, something getting broken etc, which means people want to declutter.

yeah I agree - not an effective article for anyone who's read MSE forums :) but it could be a "trigger point" for anyone reading the paper taking a look around and realising they have every sunday paper + supplement for the last 10 years keeping them company! :rotfl:
  • this proves how cluttered up i am, at the libary on saturday i saw a book i quite fancied reading 'the life laundry'. signed it out got home and started flicking through it then dd looked at me went in the hall and came back with another copy:o. apparently i brought it last summer at a carboot and its been sitting on the bookshelf in the hall waiting to be read.

btw the you mag free with yesterdays mail on sunday has an article on clutter telling us why its chic to chuck, ill have a read later and see if theres anything we dont already know

posted the link to help mrs moneypenny throw out the dreaded sunday supplement :) it can be read online at anytime then :)

    Hia,

Just popping in quickly. Mainly to report that I managed to reach getting rid of 284 things out of my target to declutter 300 things in 30 days. I got to 213 then my loved one decided to sort out his DVD and gaming collection and got rid of 71 (!!) games and DVDs. So that really boosted things! Going to give it a rest for a couple of days then try and set myself another target.

It felt really good to take all the stuff to the charity shops the other day. It's really good to know that I feel better with that "stuff" gone and they feel better with stock to raise vital funds. A win win situation!

Keep going everyone, will pop back in a few days to see how you are all doing.:A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

  • Hi everyone, just wondering if I could ask a question.

My DD is now 10years old and I now have 10 years of all her birthday cards, lots of drawings and momentoes as well as a few toys/books and even a few clothes from each stage of her life that she loved. Whilst I don't really want to get rid of it all the amount of 'stuff' seems to be growing and I'm running out of cupboard space to keep it all and there is less room to store day to day items. I'm just really interested in what other Mum's do or am I being too sentimental and in the interests of decluttering do you just get rid of it all? I guess I should also add none of the items ever get looked at but I was keeping it all for her for when she was older.

    Any suggestions greatly received.
  • Been away for a few days but:

In: 2 letters in the mail plus 2 books I was asked to review. Also in: a big load of food shopping.

Out: (Tomorrow morning): 2 bags of rubbish.
