    OUT:

1 womb in op! (sorry if TMI)

    Hi greent

Hope you will be feeling better soon and up and about. Take it easy and don't try to do too much. I had the same op in July 2008 and it was the best thing I ever did! No more monthlies, no more anaemia and no more PMT! Did you have keyhole surgery? I went in Monday am and was out Tuesday afternoon - everyone was amazed that I only stayed in 1 night, and was 'back to normal' in 2 weeks.

Anyway I digress: been concentrating on my craft room, got tons of stuff sorted out for Ebaying or Freecycling, but it still looks like I haven't even made a dent in it. It's going to take a long time for me to part with all of it...

Been doing some kitchen cupboards tonight: we have a lovely stash of cut glass glasses which we never use, so I thought I'd sort them out. Turns out that we haven't even got a decent set amongst them either! There's 2 of some, 3 of others, and 5 of others, so I've had a ruthless sort out. Some of them we will use for everyday as it's pointless saving them 'for best' or for visitors, because whenever we do have visitors the everyday ones come out anyway. So there's a lot less glass in my cupboards now. The local school has a jumble sale next Saturday which I'm helping at so I'll take them round there.

Also chucked out a beefburger maker (don't think I've ever used it), some dariole moulds (ditto), a load of plastic containers that have lost their lids, couple of glass bowls (I had 6), and some other bits and pieces. Cupboards are looking a lot less cluttered and I'm feeling virtuous. Now all I have to do is tackle the crockery cupboard, the saucepan cupboard and the food cupboards!
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

  • Hi Everyone :hello:

Been following this thread for a couple of weeks and you've inspired me to get rid of the clutter this year for good. I tend to work in spurts so rather than posting a daily update could I just shout about when I finally get a place cleared? I started with our bedroom - drawers and wardrobes turned out, under bed cleared, cupboard and trunk emptied and high dusting done for first time in a long time :o so OUT went:
    • clothes that don't fit/aren't worn or liked - charity shop
    • shoes that are beyond repair - bin
    • new dolls house kit that I'll never get round to - sold on ebay
    • spare photo printer - to Dad
    • toiletries/gift sets/perfume - bin/charity shop/work colleague
    • canvas shelving unit - relocated to craft room
    • boxes of photos, albums & other 'memory' things - stored in now-empty trunk
And best of all the unwanted items have left the building! I can actually walk round the room now - what a great feeling!! Now what's next?
Decluttering, home-making and 'proper' cooking are my priorities this year and trying to finish all those unfinished hobby projects before spending any more money!

Welcome! you can use this thread however you like - although I like to post ins as well as outs as then I can 'confess' when I buy stuff and it does put me off buying things sometimes....

Thanks, Yorkielass, that's a good way to think about it. My main INs tended to be craft materials/dollhouses, etc. but I'm determined not to buy anything until all my unfinished projects are completed..so far so good, I'm pleased to say!

I could def use advice from this thread, hope you dont mind me popping in. I feel sick every time I look around my house now and embarassed to have people over, thats how I know my clutter is now a problem. Finding it hard to get rid of as I could do with the money that selling this stuff could bring but just cant get motivated enough to see any real progress, and is getting to point where every time I go shopping and bring something in I feel sick. Dont get me wrong I am not up to neck in mounds of it but cant seem to sort out what I have, and house quite small, 2 young kids and other half in it too so need more space. Have joined the turn £100 onto 10k thread so now hoarding what I have to sell, but just not getting on with it...what can I do to motivate myself?!

Just been reading through this thread and the above from victoriaplum1 is just how i feel!

I've so much stuff around that I think i'll save & put on ebay but don't know where to start and loads of craft stuff. I have decided to clear kitchen cupboards out and use 'best' crockery everyday and not take up much needed storage with it.
I like the idea of posting ins and outs. Hopefully it will be enough to make me stop and think whether i really need to buy. Have also signed up to to FlyLady thread. All this positive thinking should keep me on the right track. I always start off full of enthusiasm but find myself slipping off after a while.
Need to read all the way through this thread for tips to help me keep going and stay motivated.

To be honest reading some posts I wish i lived nearer some of you with all the stuff going to freecycle - see i really need help :o

Sorry not sure how to get LINK up on quote. Granny

Hello! I've not been on for a while but have been getting on with stuff, honest!
Last weekend I tackled DD's bedroom. I cleared it and the car was FULL! All went to the tip as they have a charity section there too. Whilst we were out and about that morning, I got DH to take all the carrier bags into tesco.
We then fitted a new door in between the dining room and kitchen which closes (woohoo!). Tomorrow DH (today now sorry looking at the time!) will be fitting a new door frame, new skirting boards to the kitchen and skirting to the bathroom. Then they won't be filling my dining room floor and getting in the way!
The skirtings, door and door furniture are the only non-consumable items that I have brought into the house.
Still waiting for the blinking double order guitar to be collected by UPS. Hopefully will be contacted by them soon to arrange collection.

    Grrent, take it steady.

Oooh, haven't been on the new shiny thread yet, and everyone's doing really great.

My decluttering is still a 'journey' which about equates to a bad singer on Idol. Good in parts and rubbish most of the time. I tend to do things as I come to them with spurts inbetween of 'fedupness'!

Got a bin bag ready for the tip, mainly papers, which will go out today. Got a bag to take to my mothers when next we visit of stuff she may like, though in reality she'll probably take it the charity shop as her place is stuffed to the gunnels too. :j

The bathroom and kitchen are the worst places with the bedroom not too far behind. Unfortunately the house looks tidy'ish but cupboards are places of great mystery and depth. The kitchen is full of must-be-out-of-date jars, tins and packets but it seems such a waste to bin the lot although it can't be given away. We've stopped eating carb based foodstuffs so have no need of flour/pasta/rice/beans but still they clutter up the space. Need to become more ruthless.

I release a lot of stuff to friends and colleagues which, I'm sure, enhances their lives greatly :rotfl: Last year I did so well with university books (donated to university libraby), fiction books (donated to local hospital WRVI) and CDs (burned to PC and all those horrible bulky cases binned whilst actual CDs put in little plastic wallets). Now it's the more hidden stuff.

This year it's going to be little and often - do I really need 3 half used bottles of Vit C, a huge jar of little used Sea Kelp and 4 jars of Omega 6 fish oil??? Nope...
