We have 5 months to empty and decorate the room.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Discovered today its not just me thats an untidy whatsit in our house...cleared the kitchen totally during the week and kept on top of it until yesterday then OH put his wallet, keys, whistle, stopwatch and umpiring cards (all of which Grrrr to) on the worksurface near the door! They then bred - reciepts, hankies, dog poop bags (unused!) joined them during the day. I took said items to OH while he was brushing his teeth (captive audience) and lo and behold they were still in the bathroom at lunchtime (with a few offspring like the old loo roll tube ... the bin is all of 15cm away). I said they had made a hotspot and he looked at me like I was mad (well???). So I moved them to his bedside cabinet which is a volcano not hotspot!
Thanks everyone - I feel so much better for posting!

It's been a busy weekend but I think we're making progress. All the "in" stuff fitted without needing to rearrange anything so I'm feeling quite pleased with my previous decluttering efforts (as I don't class the "in" as clutter - yet :rotfl:)
IN
12 Wine & champagne glasses (wedding present)
Steam generating iron (ditto)
Shoe cupboard (to replace chaotic shoe racks which just attract cr*p)
Clothes - couple of dresses and tops
New handbag
OUT
Last ebay item (to post office)
Boxes (to tip/recycling centre)
Polystyrene (ditto)
Christmas tree (ditto)
Fallen apart pair of boots (ditto)
PENDING
Bag of shoes
Old iron that doesn't steam anymore
2 old handbags
Computer joystick
Ethernet switch
Old satellite dish & receiver
We've decided to give our local car boot sale a whirl so all the pending items are being saved for that (except for the satellite dish & receiver which we've put on the local equivalent of Gumtree). Once we've decided or a date I'll have a run around with some bin bags to pull together stuff for the car boot. I'm reluctant to do that straightaway as then I'll have piles of stuff hanging around which will just add to the mess and chaos in the short term. I am starting to earmark items to go though :T And anything that doesn't sell will go straight to the charity shop.
I also sorted out our cutlery drawers yesterday. I haven't thrown anything (yet - some might be earmarked for the car boot though) but we were wondering whether to buy a new cutlery set and now it's been sorted out I can see we don't really need to.0 -
Well, I posted the other day to say that I'd thrown away a key as locks had been changed on the front door, forgot it was actually the back door we had new keys for so the key I had thrown away was our spare front door key - had to then go routing through the bin bag to find it - gross! :rotfl:
At least it spurred me on to throw away the bag into the dustbin (good job I hadn't done it sooner.
So, over weekend:

So I grabbed fear by the horns and ventured into the garage.
I packed one bag of stuff for recycling *yay*
Then brought 2 bags full of stuff upstairs *headdesk*
These are things that were cluttering my mother's house until autumn last year. She finally changed the furniture in my old bedroom, and boxed up all my stuff. Then she brought it all to my house.
I told her that if I hadn't needed it in 13 (gasp!) years, I probably didn't need any of it now, and it could be thrown out.
My poor mother, stuck with a room full of mid nineties teenager's rubbish.
I think bringing it here was her revenge haha0 -
Yesterday I might just have bought in 1 or 2 items of new jumble la la la but did manage to get rid of more and certainly books will go again once read and some of the clothing has replaced other worn out bits that have gone out for recycling.
In: Nowt
Out: a freebie DVD and a moth eaten jumper

Productive day
Following my clear out earlier, I sorted another box from the dreaded hall cupboard and added to the recycling pile, then tackled the other dreaded hall cupboard and added some shoes to the recycling pile.
Then (in the middle of an energy spurt) I decided to tackle the utility room and have rearranged a few things, hopefully to discourage the accumulation of junk
Finally, I went to the recycling place this afternoon to get rid of the recycling pile. Tired now, but feel a bit smug0 -
Right not sure when I last posted but reckon it was nearly a week

Afraid I'm not doing a very good job of keeping up with this thread. Can't remember when last posted, but... apart from food this week had a moment of weakness at B&M and in came some storage boxes, a timer, silicon loaf 'tin', salt and pepper pots and garden rake (which I do actually need) !!! Also bought copious amounts of stuff from Boots sale, BUT is all earmarked for gifts through the year.
Out - not that much really, reunited my daughter with her shoes, took a few non clothes bits to charity shop, bag of clothes went to charity pick up, a couple of quality street tins to daughter (to use for cake tins), paper+peelings to compost bin.Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'
