  • Doorstep charity collection on Monday, so looking to get stuff together for that and save taking car to charity shops. Meantime:

    IN

    Newspaper

    OUT

1 big bag papers cleared out from bookcase, now just need to sort the remaining papers into sensible categories.

1 waste paper bin full of packaging, torn folders, useless CDs

    1 gadget freegled

    FOUND:T
    • very attractive print I bought in charity shop to give as Christmas present, but forgot all about.
    • serial number for office software which has been unusable without it since I got new PC (in 2005!)

New swimsuit bought for our centerparcs holiday next week - needed as have put on weight and darent try old one on!!
A stuffed toy from charity shop for our dog, who loves "killing" them. Bit of a shame really as the toy is quite a cute goat. Only £1.
A double duvet, some duvet covers and pillow cases from DH's nan - going to replace the silly little duvet in the spare room. Or use it as replacement one on our bed whilst we get our one washed - something i have been meaning to do for ages!
A bottle of Calvin Klein Eternity Moment perfume, again from DH's nan - she bought it but the little sprayer thing doesnt work? Its a nearly full bottle. Unfortunately the lid isnt a screw on one, so may have to get the pliers to it, remove the lid and decant into another bottle.

    OUT

Been through all our CD's, barely listen to them anymore, only in the car really. Got a pile which i think i will take to the car boot as not in amazing condition so dont want to ebay them. Got a pile of DH's for him to look through as well, bet he doesnt want to part with any of them!
Also looked through our drawer where we keep USB leads, phone leads, and things for other appliances - got rid of some leads/chargers from old cameras and phones we no longer have, and got a pile of things to show DH as not sure where they came from, dont want to throw anything out by mistake!

    Plenty more decluttering to do!

    Update on utility room shelf:

Found a pet food dish with hay in it from when we had a rabbit (havent had a rabbit for at least 7 years ).

Threw out one of those boxes of grow your own mushrooms that has been sitting there for at least 14 years. I think we brought it with us when we moved here. Actually thought about trying it to see if it would still work, but common sense finally got the better of me and I tossed it instead :D

Disposed of 12 part used tins of paint and one tub of used engine oil (presumably put there by DH, though no idea why!), and some ancient paint and varnish stripper.

Also tossed a very old piece of worktop (500mm wide) that has been in the utility since it was taken out of the kitchen 7 or 8 years ago; and a huge box of DH's stuff from when he was teaching electronics during his teacher training.

On the other hand, found an old photo (which Im keeping) of DH about 25 years ago, playing the guitar, and a letter from the bank when we got a mortgage for our house - that's the last but one house, not this one, so about 30 years old (tossed that).

Feeling a bit virtuous, but there is still a very long way to go. The utility room has all the plant pots (plastic ones) that I used to use for growing my own veg, that ought to be stored in the shed, but the shed currently has no roof and the other shed was burnt down in an arson attack last year, so some things have no home :(

Congratulations merrymary, you can still come on here and let us know how she is doing. Anyway, I'm sure you will be decluttering plenty of nappies :rotfl:

Been to work today, and DH has decluttered one bedroom :j mind you, that just means he moved it somewhere else, but still, can now see the bed in there :T
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
