Hi, can I join you please?
Trying to get rid of all the rubbish (sorry, things we don't need!) in this house. Would like to move to a smaller house now the children are almost gone but the thought of taking all this stuff really depresses me!

Anyway, made a start yesterday - DS1 returned my car over a year ago and DD1 removed all rubbish inside, put it in a box in the garage for him to go through when he came home and started to use the car herself. Well, the car has now gone to the great scrapheap in the sky (we have a lovely new shiny one with no rubbish inside, yet!). Now two boxes of rubbish from the car!! Not telling either of them that this has now gone in the bin - bins should get emptied tomorrow.

I feel great and reading this has made me determined to carry on. Thank you all!

I have just spent an hour sorting out my present cupboard

    "sorted"
Some xmas stuff to go in the loft

    Out
Various bits that I had been hoarding that aren't quite right for presents- to be offloaded on friend for her charity car boot
I have also made a hamper/gift basket out of some of the stuff, which can be used as a charity raffle prize
(going to drop all of this off later, so they don't hang around in my bedroom for the next month :lol)

    Pending
    Sorting out my handbags
Sorting out my ponies' wardrobe (I mean how many rugs can they need??)
  • Do I need three (or any) bags of polystyrene packing 'squiggles'?
    BTW I don't 'ebay'.

I feel the urge for a flinging session.. see if I can fill a wheelie bin before Tuesday.. easy done I'll bet.. since we got our large recycle bin i have 'struggled' to fill half a wheelie bin with our usual level of rubbish so I have pleny of room to chuck stuff we no longer need...

Only problem .... I'm not too sure where to start!

Congratulations to MerryMary and best wishes to you and your family. :j

I feel as though I am making progress at last. :)

I have been up in the boarded out part of the attic this morning and filled another bag for charity. I have also made several trips down the ladders and stairs and filled the wheelie with rubbish from up there. I have brought down and added to the recycling pile a load more flattened cardboard boxes. I did have one plastic box and one cardboard box with paper, envelopes and notebooks and I have tidied them so they will all fit in to the plastic box. I must remember that I don't need to buy any paper or envelopes for many years. :o

This has given me a lift today as I can now reach the paper work that needs attention and I even feel inclined to get on with sorting that out over the next few weeks.

OH has garage open at the moment as he is doing DIY so I think I will take the opportunity to return several items to said garage that have found their way to the attic. I'll report back if I am sucessful.

    Thanks

  • I did something bad yesterday - I took on a ton of someone else's junk :o:o They were going to chuck it out, so I said I'd try to sell it rather than binning it. I'm a hazard to myself!!! So now I have two massive black sacks of stuff on my bedroom floor (which I had completely cleared the other day, grrrrr).

    In recently:
    • Alpen bars
    • New underwear, top, bracelets and makeup :o I went shopping - enough said!
    Out:
    • Two big black sacks filled with junk from sister's room
    • lots of cans and papers to the recycling bin
    • a few bottles of nail polish and makeup that had gone off
    • a packet out out of date cup-a-soup (which tasted minging)
On the plus side, I have a few things that are pending removal:
    • bag of cans (forgot to take them the other day)
    • 25 items on ebay ending tonight, 9 have bids
    • 3 items all packaged up and ready to post
    • 2 bags of stuff to photograph and list on ebay
    • dvd player which a friend is going to collect
    • several pairs of glasses, need to find out where I can recycle these.
