    Morning all

Lovely and sunny but frosty today. One load of washing just started in the machine.

I've taken down the Christmas tree and cards and DH has just put the tree and decorations back up in the loft. Dusted the living room and computer desk and vacuumed right through downstairs. I haven't looked at the list yet though.

    Afternoon all
Wm x 12; TD x 1 and we go to a PARTY today at my mum's, for which I cooked the gammon, another BIG family get together.

Last year nephew brought his GF and mum asked her
'Do you eat things or are you vegetarian?'

    sis and BIL were asked
    'Have you parked?'
(all of us cracked up as we all had visions of floating cars tethered to the house like hot-air balloons!)

and a L-O-N-G conversation about carrot cakes as the GF didn't know they had carrots in. She still doesn't believe me about cheese in cheesecake either.

Wonder what the afternoon/evening will bring?

Happy new year everyone, hope it is a good one for you all

Well we never got into neighbours for their party last night, we were all still felling yuk cos of this horrible cold, DS is imnproving though but now DH says its turning into the flu :rotfl:(only for him mind:rolleyes:) even though we all have the same syptoms.

Ironing update, well due to me not feeling well last night, I was cream crackered to be honest and physically could not do anymore but I managed to get down to about 15 items left in the basket which is a mega improvement as I have two baskets, both of which are usually 3 feet high so thanks for the motivation, I may not have completed it but am determined to have it empty before I go back to work on Tuesday then do a HHI each day with dailies to keep on top of it :D

Am stuffed, jsut had a big fry up and now gonna set the table up nice for dinner and really just chill the rest of the day, perhaps try and catch up on thread. Have a nice day whatever you are doing.

that is because what most people think of as cheesecake isn't actually cheesecake.. proper 'english' cheesecake has a pastry base, currants and cottage or cream cheese.. more like a large tart.

and the American version is sponge cake base with cream cheese custardy stuff

    YORKSHIRE CHEESECAKE RECIPE

    Ingredients you'll need:

    3oz (75g) currants
    8oz (225g) cottage cheese, sieved
    half pint (300ml) soured cream
    2oz (50g) castor sugar
    2 eggs
    1 egg white
finely grated rind of 1 lemon
    and
some shortcrust pastry which has been chilled for 30 minutes

Roll out your pastry to line a 10 inch flan dish or tin. Give the base a good pricking and chill same.

Once chilled (brrrr) scatter your currants carefully over the pastry base. Mix together the cottage cheese, soured cream, sugar, eggs, egg white and lemon rind until blended beautifully. Now pour into the pastry case.

Bung this in an oven, at 425F (Gas 7), for ten minutes and then reduce the temperature to 325F (Gas 3) for 20 minutes or until the cheesecake is firm. Serve cold.

and whoever decided to put carrots in cake is an idiot... GROSS!!!
