  • Love this challenge! I've been a long time lurker on mrscmr's diary thread and have been inspired by her posts at least once to tackle my own ironing mountain:D

I need all the inspiration, motivation and threats to get the iron out. I have two young DSs and a hubby so the washing just keeps coming.

I do not iron: towels, baby vests & sleepsuits, pyjamas, bibs, bed linen, tea towels ot fleece jumpers.

I hate using the tumble dryer so don't have that option of not ironing.

My ironing pile lives on a low windowsill in my kitchen and I will endeavour to keep it below window height at the very least this year; at best I will get the iron out every afternoon when DS1 is in school & DS2 is having a nap.

I might even post on your diary thread now mrscmr! You're certainly an inspiration!

    :jYay ironing:j

I don't mind ironing so much now since I bought a Phillips steam generator(for £20.00 from Bzzagent-my best buy of the year!) I can iron a pair of jeans with two strokes of the iron so I don't mind them, it's DDs blouses and things I don't like doing, she always buys stuff with ruffles and pleats! I always have a few horrible bits and pieces that I hate ironing in the bottom of my basket and what I do is if they've been there for a couple of months I think well no-one's missed them and I stick them in the next charity bag for someone else to deal with :rotfl:

Know what you mean, I always leave DH's combat trousers and formal shirts at the bottom of the pile. They usually stay there until MIL takes pity on him and irons them herself. (DH of course, does not understand the workings of an iron):o

  • I'll join too. Our clothes get put into DD's cot until they get put away unironed or dragged out and ironed immediately before being worn. DD is now over 5 and the cot has never been empty. We don't iron anything that doesn't get seen but school uniform and DH's work shirts and trousers all need ironed.

  • I took advice from this thread and have decided to tackle my ironing in short bursts and this morning I spent an hour on the board! The pile has reduced a bit but as I also had a load drying overnight I didn't reduce it by as much as I'd hoped. However, some clothes were taken straight from clothes horse to board without even having to sit on the pile for a single second - which is a first in this house!
