Hello everyone! Well here I am again - shirking. I haven't managed to iron anything except school uniform since I last posted. I know DS has no trousers or poloshirt for tomorrow so I'll be rushing it in the morning as usual. My ironing pile is HUGE (again) and I just don't care. However don't care was made to care and true enough my MIL is visiting on tuesday so I blinking well better get it all done (or hide it hee hee) as I will have to listen to "helpful" comments about what I do with my time otherwise!

Wonder if the pile will fit in the tumble drier? Or maybe I could split it, half in the tumble drier, half in my wardrobe. Wish I had an Aga, I bet you could hide loads of unironed clothes in one of them.

I knew I'd be rubbish at this challenge, I must try harder.

I have never ironed my sons uniform and trust me he doesn't look any scruffier than any other kid - do yourself a favour, ditch the guilt, the rushing around in the morning and the ironing

  • LOL you lot have made me laugh!!! I'm 23 and run a ironing service with my mum we have been running for the last 7 years.

Steam generator irons are by far the best, I wouldn't bother with a steam press as there is more chance of you burning your hands and also takes more time.

As for things turning shiny when you hit them with the iron turn the temperature down. If you dry on the radiator make sure it's not for too long and in the summer your best pegging out early evening as the sun isn't as harsh then :) use fabric conditioner as it really does make a difference

Silky things like football tshirts or slinky ladies tops you can just put them on a hanger and steam it saves alot of time. Don't bother ironing socks, underwear, tea towels no one sees them.

If you don't really know where to start with mountains of ironing your best separating it all put tshirts in one basket then shirts followed by trousers. start on the trousers first as they are the hardest and when you get on the tshirts your flying. You will be really pleased then :)

I hope this helps any of you :)

Yes, I would agree with this but I do the smallest garments first in order to have a bigger pile of things ironed!

MIL came to visit today as expected but she arrived before I got home from work, let herself in and has seen the mountain as I'd stupidly left it where it lives - no comments yet but they won't be long coming, my MIL doesn't do holding back!

Well done to everyone who's making progress:A
