Am back with another question how do you work out costings for cupcakes? Getting myself all confused with how much a batch costs me to make and then each individual cupcake. Going to do an online H&H course this week and sent form to council to register a food business. had a wee play around on vistaprint with business cards but scared to order any til council man been.
Bluefire your stall and cakes looks so professional, think thats where i am aiming long term but long way to go yet!!

On my cupcake spreadsheet i've got the ingredients listed to make 12 cupcakes, then i've got the extras such as colouring, cases, decorations, piping bag etc and the prices for all these things. Then I add it all up and divide by 12. Done the same for 24 as well. :)

I really want to get my logo ordered, getting it from Ella Announcements and then get my stationery ordered but can't do any of that until i've got the ok from the EHO.

I rang them today and she said she'll send me a form but they might not have to inspect my kitchen? Don't mind either way as long as I get a definite yes or no.

I would just like to say thank you to all who have contributed to this thread thus far. I've just started out on my cash for baking journey and have found the information in this thread to be very useful - so thank you! I've taken some pictures of my first three sets of cupcakes - strawberry, lemon and chocolate orange. Hopefully I'll be able to upload them soon. I'm off on holiday next week but hopefully when I get back I'll be able to focus on getting things going.

    Thanks again everyone!

Sent the form off today so hopefully should hear next week if/when they're coming to inspect my kitchen.

I made my first wedding cake yesterday, for my cousins wedding. I wasn't 100% happy with it (I never am though!) but everybody has said how lovely it is, so happy! :D I'll take some pictures tonight when I go to the reception and post them later/tomorrow.

    Hi

Ive been lurking on here for a while, reading all the posts ! I just wanted to say hello and the cakes on here look amazing :T I am hoping to start my cupcake business from home soon, I have passed the kitchen inspection and am raring to go !! I was just wondering if any of you have had a logo designed and if so, please could you point me in the right direction ? I don't have too much money spare but understand that I need to get it right from the begining. I look forward to getting to know you all,

    Bek x

I am getting my logo from Ella Announcements, I have no affiliation with them, I just love her style, it's so girly and pretty :D It costs £95 which might seem quite expensive but compared to others it's not and I think it's really important to have a good, professional logo.
