Cash from Baking??

So good to see peoples businesses taking of! Things are looking better than I had ever expected so early on. I did my biggest cake to date last night and was attending the party myself so was great to see peoples reactions and soak up the compliments! I have come away with 2 orders too. Here's what i did -

Recipe books (both mine & my Mum's!) recipe websites, cupcake blogs... sometimes I'll just get inspiration from a name & then find a recipe to suit. I've tweaked most of them as I go along to get them just right though.

Thanks for all your advice, I think you will never change the mind of people who buy cheap supermarket cakes. For them I think price over rides quality!
I'm stuck as to how/where to start a cupcake business, it's all very well people taste testing but I need people to buy them!!!!!

Question: do you have to get permission from a brand if you intend to sell a product using the brands name? Ie; Galaxy truffle cupcakes, Green and Blacks buttercream...

I'm curious about that one too Nat21Luv, I have a few recipies I'd like to include in my book, but while I can make dark chocolate generic, I can't work out what the unbranded description for a creme egg could possibly be!

I recognise those cupcakes from facebook...lol, which one are you? I probably confuse with the @laurasbakery twitter account, but @lauraslittlebakery wouldn't fit!

I look forward to that new cupcake box place opening after me boycotting cupcakeboxes direct!

I need some help with my new FPC moulds I acquired over the weekend....some of them are tiny and I'm finding it impossible to get them out without ruining them. Any tips?

Another good day today...ave been asked to help a posh charity event out for Help the Heros in the Wirral, I get to set up a little stall...sell cupcakes and donate a percentage to charity which is absolutely fine by me, my brother's in the army so it's a cause that means something to me.

I do worry though, at something like this.....if I'm going to sell them 300+ cupcakes for £2 each, how much would you donate yourselves per cupcake. Honest answers here please, because as much as I'd like to say here you go have all the profit, I can't afford to do that!
