    Well done tara!

    (((mumofgirls)))

I weighed in this morning and it's 1.5lbs on which is deeply annoying but not entirely unexpected. I've still been very good with calorie limits etc but I've clearly not read the ingredients list properly somewhere along the line as my body has not reacted well to something and I'm in bloat mode! I'll leave it to calm down over the weekend and weigh in again on Monday when it'll hopefully be back to normal. It's so irritating but I'm not upset by it, these things will happen.
  • Amanita, how about ordering chicken with beansprouts? I don´t think that would be too high in calories.
  • ask the waiter/waitress for their recommendations. You will find that most REAL Chinese food is actually quite healthy. Avoid gloopy sauces, and fried things (obviously). My favourites are:
stir fried Kai Lan with ginger sauce (Chinese broccoli)
lotus roots stir fried with red bean curd
broccoli stir fried with fish pieces (tried to make this at home, and all the fish flaked and fell apart!) That is, if you are a pescetarian...
    baby pak choi with garlic
three earth seafood - lotus root, black fungus, mangetout stir fried with garlic
    Lo Han Chai (Buddha's delight)

Absolutely TONS of delicious (and healthy!) Chinese dishes without meat

Anyone got any recommendations for vegetarian low calorie meals in Chinese restaurants - (other than steamed vegetables which I don't think I can face see below)

Chinese food has such an awful connotation for me that I haven't really eaten it in over 10 years ... Can't change the venue though for tomorrow so I'm going to have to eat it!

I agree with baby_fuzz's recommendations, anything with lots of veg and maybe some noodles/boiled rice.

I'm going to do it! First step is a food diary, I will buy a little pocket diary tomorrow in the pound shop and keep it with me at all time. And I will be brutally honest about what I'm eating!! I will draw a little star beside the healthy stuff so that I can see at a glance when I've had a bad day/week and identify patterns etc. Then I'll dig out my pedometer and do the steps challenge. I walk quite a lot anyway but have been slipping under 2 hours a day. But I have a big walk planned for this Saturday and have been doing squats every day so it's not all bad! Amanita, are you on for it?

I've done this this morning TARA747, and I think it's working already! Thanks for that great idea :T

The food diary one - lol! :D

It makes you very conscious of what you put in your mouth, cos you don't want to be writing lots of 'naughty' things down IYSWIM?

So far have been very good, with no unnecessary's, I hope that I can keep it up. :)

    .

OK - I'll dig out the pedometer! I have a day's shopping planned at the Swindon outlet centre. I wonder how many steps I will manage? Enough to offset the coffee and cake mid morning? or the National Trust lunch? or the tea and cake mid afternoon??

That look dreadful doesn't it  I didn't realise how bad until I typed it out.
