Playing with our new toy today. A Sainsbury' "be good to yourself" range slow cooker bought at a discount for only £14.99.
Just put it on to cook, should be ready about 7.30-8pm. Chicken stock, half usual amount of liquid, boquet garni, think cut potatoe, carrot and courgete slices, onion fried to translucent and some briefly seared chicken on the bone pieces with skin removed.
Hopefully this will be away for us to eat as soon as kids are in bed and I get home from work to avoid snacking / not have to be starving before the meal is cooked!0 -
A loss of 2lb which I'm pleased with as I struggled a bit at first trying to find a pattern of eating that I could continue long term without feeling too hungry and giving up.Sealed Pot Challenge No. 9140

Well done to those who've lost weight
Went out for a friend's birthday meal today and somehow ended up faced with an enormous buffet, argh! I was a little naughtier than usual but had plenty of salad and just a teeny helping of the nice things, not the huge spoonfuls I'd usually have had. I'm hoping that it wasn't too madly calorific. I am absolutely stuffed now though so I should be able to get away with just some toast for supper.0 -
I eat too quickly and then find that I always want a dessert (although this is usually a yoghurt or some fruit). I know I should eat more slowly but I always forget as I am usually ravenous by dinnertime. It sounds silly but I am thinking about sticking a post-it note on the dining room table telling myself to slow down. OH eats slowly (and is slim) and I have usually finished my meal by the time he´s only halfway through his. Have any of you managed to teach yourself to eat more slowly? Any tips?0

Ok, so after a hard week eating healthily and going to the gym 3 times........my weight GAIN in my first full week of my new regime is 1lb 12 ounces. Better not put that in with everyone's totals OP.
Utterly demoralised now and feel a complete failure.0 -
Deedee - hope it shows next week for you - that used to happen to me - don't throw the towel in yet!!
I'm due to weigh myself tomorrow - don't think it will be a loss though - think the stresses of the last couple of weeks have caught up with me - all I've done is EAT. But enough excuses - now the ice has gone I'll be going for a walk and driving to the pool again - I AM going to get my head around this.

We've been to the cinema twice recenty and I had.....a bottle of water. It felt weird not having popcorn and diet coke (I rarely go to the cinema but almost always have popcorn when I do, unless I go to a cute old cinema with a bar where I sip on something grown up for novelty value.) but only at first. and the water I sipped at as I would at home. I think I prefer it that way.
Eating slowly, I notice that I sped up with weight too. I make a point of eating properly, with a knife and fork, even if its finger food, and putting cutlery down between mouthfuls. If you have an OH/family, then make sure conversation flows is a natural way of not eating too quickly, as you need to be able to talk, so can't always be eating.Water between every few botes (and a glass before eating) is also good.
