Nice one, haven't bought jars of sauce for a very long time. Doesn't take much practice to do a lot better yourself, you know what's in it (no unneccesary extra sugar, Monosodium Glutamate etc.) and it's fun to be smug and know you can do better yourself :rotfl:

well weigh in today and I lost 1.5lbs. Not a lot for two weeks I know but I am happy as I have eaten like a pig for the past 4-5 days and really thought I would have put weight on. So that's me on to double my efforts for the rest of the month and to lose the other 5.5lbs for January:D

Trying to eat up the foods in my store cupboard and freezers this month which is great as its saving me money and making me stick well to my main meals even though I have been eating loads of rubbish in the evenings.

Thank you to everyone for all your tips, really given me some food for thought.

I have to admit I've been a bit naughty tonight and went out for dinner and had chicken tikka masala, however I think it was well deserved as I've been offered my job on a permanent basis (I've only been temp up to now) so had to celebrate.

Off to my parents tomorrow so going to have a go on their exercise bike, and I know they are doing us chicken salad tomorrow for dinner.

I think my problems with energy levels is that I have been so dependant on the caffeine in cola, now I've stopped drinking it I guess it will take a while for my body to return back to normal.

another one for you coco. WW Easy tomato sauce, 2 onions 2 pepers 30g mushrooms, clove of garlic, 2 tins of tomatoes 3 tsp of mixed herbs, salt&peper, and a touch of cooking oil/spray.

cut up veg & garlic gently fry to soften add tomatoes &herbs bring to the boil then simmer for 15 mins...jobs a good un :D

I make a similar sauce to this every week - it's great as a pasta sauce with some chopped up ham and mushrooms, or add lean minced beef to make a bolognaise sauce, and then add kidney beans and chilli powder for chilli con carne.Best to make the basic sauce in huge quantities as it's so versatile :)
  • Really pleased with yesteday. I was seeing a friend who has had a hard time recently and she suggested lunch out. It was a pub and there wasn't a healthy choice so I had what I wanted, blue cheese and brocoli quiche, curly fries and salad with a tbsp mayo. I drank diet coke and declined a pudding. I was fairly full and must've had all my days cals in one meal. So I managed to have a small banana and a bourbon biscuit with plenty of water for the evening and feel so good that I didn't throw in the towel and have a piggy tea which is my usual pattern. What I did probably wasn't awfully healthy but it has shown me that I have some will power!

Those pasta sauces sound nice. When I was doing WW I made a nice tagliatelle carbonara with a little gammon and lots of mushrooms in frylight with some finely chopped onion and garlic, fried gently until cooked. I then added some 1/2 fat creme fraiche(can't remember how much-enough to mae enough sauce) which once cooked was cheesy enough not to need any more cheese in the dish(I had intended putting in a little parmesan). I then added the cooked tagliatelle. The serving I made came to 9 ww points which is a fair amount but there was a very very large portion. The cals can be reduced by the amount of pasta and creme fraiche added. Oooh I'm hungry now-better go get a banana for my breakfast!

Behave Curlytop you are making me feel hungry :D since im happy to eat my own body weight in pasta ive been avoiding it, esp since i watched that big fat diet (another reason why i shouldn't have watched it)

Coco we are out tonight too, tho only going to the cinema which brings about the ben&jerry dilemma...

Food today was poached egg on toast for breckie, soup for lunch, jacket pot with cottage cheese & salad for dinner....more than likely Ben &jerrys for pudding (im such a weak person :o)

    Have a good day all

Just 1/2 lb lost this week :( Still, that's 2lbs in total since Christmas. :) Haven't been able to get out for any walks due to the icy paths early this week and then all the slushiness later on. Snow's almost gone now so will be able to get some exercise and hoping for a bigger loss next week.

Tori I too love pasta, have started buying only brown pasta(do the same for my lasagne sheets) and i weigh the quantity out also. we have pasta about 3 nights a week as when you are out all day at work it is so quick and easy to make when you get home at night.
