I'm keepng it simple cooking wise ATM. I made a fab cottage pie earlier in the week thought, to feed a huge number of people, but with serious amount of veg, mushrooms, some lentils and hardly any mince rather than streching the mince as in Old style it was designed to be veg centric. Everyone said they liked it far better than any cottage pie ever eaten before and it was diet-ok. Baked potato is a useful meal: requires little thought, serve with a lovely salad, and its comforting, just scale back on potato size. soups...etc. I'm craving a lot of crudite and quick hime made fruit salads though, depite cold weather, I just hanker after frech stuff ATM.

Bunnie, do you like soup? I'm making many different styles of veg soup at the moment - delicious and quite low cal so you can have some bread and butter with it :) I don't think I'll ever feel full from just a bowl of soup, my brain demands bread or toast with it!

I'm such a bore with main meals, I just bung a load of veg in whatever I'm making in a vain effort to get a few of my 5 a day. I'd love some tasty new recipes if anyone would like to share.

A bit of a breakthrough with soups here: I've discovered that parsnip soup doesn't need cream, because once blended in a blender its very creamy itself. So I'm making a very diet friendly soup with parsnips, some lek and onion, and marigold stock. I add some chilli flakes, peeper and salt. I'm pretty sure a curry powder would work for those who prefer a rounder/deeper spicing: I just want heat. It looks pretty disgusting poorhouse food till blended (I add no fat at all, just boil the stuff in the stock) but its pretty delicious!

Today is oyster day again here. No bubbly tonight though: I almost always give up alcohol between New year and the end of March. I just love oysters and Morrisons have amazing fat creamy scottish oysters in ATM. I just love that they are only 10 cals each!

Bramble the evenings can be the pits, sugarfree jelly and non potato based soup's have been my weightsavers,

LIR soup sounds great! but better if you took the Parsnip's out,i thought parsnip was just things you cooked to fill a plate but nobody ate :rotfl:

Food wise today is porridge for breckie, HM carrot& leek soup for lunch
Dinner is a veggie lasagne & salad (that seems very wrong without chips)
There is also banana cake (made with fruisana) for pudding,

Friday night is family DVD night so thought id make something sweet so im not tempted to help out the kids with there chocolate

Have a good day everyone, and best of luck with the weighin Alexnikov

my main problem is that i was told i have high cholesterol and with a family history of heart disease i really want to keep it lowered but most shop sauces are either high in fat or high in salt, oh and i were in sauce aisle of asda for bout 20 mins last night and gave up. some of the dolmio sauces have green labels for ther percentages but this is just the colour of label and very misleading as green usually means healthy lol
