Dragon, I'm so chuffed for you :D You're doing brilliantly.

And huge congrats to everyone else :T

I'm another obsessive label reader as I'm lactose intolerant. They shove it in everything - HP beans even have milk in them! Can't even trust things labelled in the ingredients list as "flavourings" half the time  I cook most things from scratch but if I am going for ready prepared food then M&S is by far the best of the supermarkets as they don't bulk their food out with nasty crap, it's all fairly simple. Expensive yes, but I think it's worth it.

There's nothing worse than trying really hard not to let anything with milk creep into the diet and then accidentally eating something you don't even realise it's in, and then whump - bloated, headachey, horrible stomach pains, fat face. This last thing is so unfair - the glands under my chin swell up so I look like I have a double chin :(

I'm eating a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit, I've just not done anything to replace the coke I was having which I think is the biggest problem as I was having 3 bottles a day - two whilst at work.

We just had tears, as the dress I was going to wear for BIL's wedding next Saturday is miles off fitting me......I guess the reality is I've put on a stone and a half since I last wore it :(

    Bunnie,
Unless you metabolism is unusual, so long as you keep the the calorie count in the right place there are good options for slow release energy food which help to stop you flagging especially towards the end of the day.
    My strategy:
Start the day with cereals like weetabix, at the moment I have a large bowl of porridge, half a mug of oats, half a mug of semi-skimmed mile, 1 mug of water. It's very filling and under 200 calories so yuo can loose weight on it even though it's a big breakfast.

I always continued with potatoes, pasta and rice, I really needed these to keep hunger away, I just reduced them a bit to get withing the right calorie limit. I never had any issue with whether food was starchy or not, doesn't matter for me.

I'm off to have some think vegatable soup and a couple of slices of bread, on top of the porridge keeps me goign until the evening meal and it's about 350 calories. 550 in total so far today and I can have 1500 if I'm trying to loose weight or 1800-2000 if I'm maintaining.

    Bunnie,
    Also beware of the fruit.
When you get a hit of sugar from anything, including fruit, the body responds with a rush on insulin which quickly depresses blood sugar making you hungry again.
Going for slow release energy (sugar) foods like carbohydrates (bread, pasta, potatoe, rice etc.) helps to keep blood sugar steady for a longer period avoiding hunger and keeping energy levels up and can be done without going over the top on calories.
Try have more veg. for vitamins and fibre instead of fruit and don't eat fruit alone, always as part of a meal.

A tip I've passed on in a previous month, which is logical, is that, as a crude guideline the furher away from the equator the fruit grows the more diet friendly it is....less sun equalling less sugar. Thus apple/blueberries/raspberries rather than mango. I think a hit from a tropical fruit is preferable to a stodge hit though, so if you see pineapple as a treat rather than your healthy option it hits a spot. My ''treat'' fruit is giant papaya, which are delicious. :)

I had to look up what passata was :rotfl:
    Sieved tomatoes.

That sounds very low calorie and healthy. Very similar to what I ate last night except I used tinned chopped tomatoes in place of passata, some mushrooms, chopped lean bacon and once on the plate a little grated cheese (just enough for flavour). No chilli on mine as my oh doesn't like spicy sauces ;). I add a good dose of fresh ground black pepper on my plate to spice it up a bit.
With 3oz dry weight Pasta I cannot remember what the calories were for a portion but it's one of the meals I had frequently (2 to 3 times a month) during my loosing weight period last year.
