I lost 1lb this week - I have no idea how

I had to dash to London (200 mies from my home) where dd has had some major emergency surgery. :A:A A BIG THANKYOU :A:A to whoever it was had the Mars Bar after giving blood. I've watched them pump 5 units into my dd over this past week - plus another 2 during surgery. She surely would not have pulled through if it wasn't for people who do that :T:T:T:T:A:A:A:T:T:T:A:A:T:T:T

So my diet consisted of lattes, danish pastries, chocolate bars in hospital canteen. I did cook a couple of proper meals for her oh and myself and we had a Chinese one evening. And my exercise consisted of carrying chair in and out of cubicle.

If you peel the ginger and wrap it in potion size chunks in cling film - it can be used grated from frozen when needed.

In the past to remind me to drink water - I have put glass on bathroom windowledge - every time I go to loo to relieve myself of water - I top up at other end. I do it as a matter of course now.

Another thing I did in past was put sweet/food treat money along with my ww class money (decided to go it alone) to one side as I was tempted to spend it - save enough for a gift voucher from Next (or your own fave store) - save vouchers up and treat myself - that way could not spend the cash on anythig else - then bought myself to tops etc. when I'd reached a milestone. This was a few years ago when I'd lost weight but it's slowly creeping back - might start this again. It was a great feeling cos I'd have spent the cash on cake and chocolate but got a couple of lovely tops in a smaller size :D:j:D

Will really try next week with the eating - but have been a bit low today after leaving dd and heading home - so have binged on nuts and chocolate.

    Hi Milann
I do hope your daughter makes a full recovery. What a worry for you! I wouldn't give the nuts and chocolate a second thought ........ you do whatever you have to do when something like that happens. You can always cut down again when everything has calmed down. Anyway, do look after yourself........

My eatings not been so good but hopefully when I'm back at work all will be fine again.

Samace83 - My DH is probably going to be made redundant at the end of this month, so I can totally relate to what you say about binging because I've done exactly the same! Let's hope your OH and my DH manage to get themselves sorted out with new jobs very soon :)

Milann - best wishes to your daughter that she makes a speedy recovery :)

Bunnie1982, Jazer, KCSunshine - well done to all of you :T

  • Sorry to hear about your daughter Milann; I hope she´ll be better soon. You must have burned up a lot of extra calories worrying about her.

I overdid it on the wine today. I cooked a healthy lunch (roast chicken) with vegetables but at the weekends when I have time to cook nice meals, I pour myself a glass of wine while I cook, top it up then have more wine with the meal so I had about 3 large glasses in total so that´s approx 400-500 calories just on wine.

I really am going to have to cut down on alcohol to shift these extra pounds but I find it so hard as by the end of the week (I don´t drink Mon-Thurs) I am craving a glass (or bottle more like) of wine. It doesn´t help that OH was given a few bottles for christmas so our wine fridge is full!
  • Alexnikov – thanks for the kind words; however I think you must have much more willpower than you think to have come so far.

Sparklymessygirl – I will definitely use your tip re prawns in the fish pie. I also cook Nasi Goreng with prawns and this method should work for that as well. Thank you.

Milann – best wishes for your DD, keep yourself healthy for her. I am giving blood this Friday, and I have always found that after a session I have lost weight, I know it might be psychological but when in weightwatchers I always had a good loss in the week I donated (and I always had a biscuit! :o)

My day started well with beans on toast and banana. My DH (who works Sundays); finished early and offered to go to A$da for me on the way home (which was very kind as I still don’t want to drive until the snow has cleared more). He got everything on the list and “a few extras” including some great bargains……… Like 3 large Christmas boxes of Maltesers; 6 tubs of reduced sandwich fillings (those mayonnaisey ones); reduced Potatoes in cream and garlic sauce; and worst of all Tiger Bread (I love bread) – the smell has been torturing me all evening. So Tea was a slice of a huge pizza (bargain); and 2 slices of tiger bread including some snadwich filler :o; plus a 2 tangerines.

So a good dose of will power is needed this week.

I have done ok this weekend, not great but not bad. I have resisted gorging on sweet stuff, which I am very proud of. Would normally WI on Monday but this week it'll be Tuesday so fingers crossed.

Massive well done to all who have lost weight!!!! *applause*

samace, sorry to hear about your OH, hope something turns up for him soon xo

milann, I wish your DD a quick recovery, you must be so stressed at the mo. Thanks so much for the tips also!! I think I might start a 'treat' jar and put money into it each time I resist something (esp a 400g jar of Nutella, £1.89 at the mo!), then use it for clothes in a smaller size when I lose weight. Maybe the lure of the money will turn me away from junk as I see it mounting up! This is genius... and very MSE!

Another thing I am going to do is get out a pair of too-small trousers from my size 8 days and try them on every week to measure my progress. Obviously they won't go past my thighs atm but it will be a useful illustration of what I am aiming for. I used to keep my weight in check in this way and then just stopped. So hopefully all this will help!!

I've changed my tactic slightly and am now checking the calories in everything. Being a total geek I have set up a spreadsheet with all of my regular eats and add new foods as they are eaten. I just enter what I ate and how much and it calculates daily totals, weekly, then plots a graph haha!

Try www.foodfocus.co.uk its free and you can log food intake and exercise on their. I use it religiously and lost 3 stone between Feb 09 to July 09. I now use it to maintain.
