    What does the bit in bold mean? What's the h for (I assume the n/c is no carbs?)?

    no not atkins too dangerous in my opinion ...the book i used this time is eat to live (cant remember the authors name ...he's and american dr if that helps) the h=n/c means

    health = nutrition /caloric

    basically eat nutritous food not calorie laden ones its a formula to work out how nutrient rich a food is

    ultimately bread is calorific not nutritous ...whole wheat (which is what i love) is nutritous and i can have that or whole wheat pitta breads in six weeks but just now he recommends a strict six weeks ...

    That made me laugh but it is a good idea to do use a side plate to help control portion size, one of my downfalls as I often think my portions aren´t that big so over eat..although I am doing something about that and only having big portions of steamed vegetables.

    i had read somewhere that eating off blue plates stops us eating as much ...due to blue not being a natural colour in food ...some brain thing ...

    so i went out and bought blue dishes (oh this was a long time ago) they were twice the size of my ordinary plates and i landed up eating twice as much ...didnt work for me

    Part of it is getting some of the ''crud'' out of the system certainly. I find when I don't eat sweet things, for example, my swet tooth diminishes significantly. I then find I'm satisfed with much less when I do have something sweet, BUT the more I eat/the more frequently I eat them the more I want them, then have to be all strict again. I have to say, while I don't do well on bread and pasta, I ALWAYS want them, but rarely get the same specific cravings for them, just emotional ''wants''...which is different though sometimes feels very similar:o
