    I need help ladies!!

Following on from my post yesterday about the Flower Fairy kits/charts, 2 very generous ladies have sorted me out!

Now, having never bought a kit form scratch before I want to make sure my thoughts on amount of thread needed are correct.
On the symbol/colour guide it lists the amount of thread given/needed in lengths. I dug out a couple of DMC kits and the length of thread given is 1m.
I *think* a skein is 8 mtrs so because none of the colours listed need as many as 8 lengths/meters I just need 1 skein of each colour?

I have found a site that sells shorter lengths but might aswell buy a whole skein because I would rather have some left over than not enough :D

    Thanks

    shelly

    Hi shelly

SO its a chart you have and you are buying the materials seperate? If so then, yes -I would think that 1 skein of each colour should be plenty-with plenty left over ;)
Glad you have found the charts :T....

*louise* -I can't believe folks go posting links to places that sell nice things -can you :rotfl:-I have had a look and am glad to say "I can't see anything that I would fancy doing" :j..mind -I haven't looked at everything -but they seemed a bit wishywashy for me -if that makes sense :o...

Right Im back off to my sewing :D-will post my weekly update in the morning
    Happy sewing everyone :D

You are right shelly, don't forget if you are only working with 2 threads, that will give you three times the skein length. Get a skein of each colour, as you will alway fine a use for it later!

I forgot a couple of weeks ago, but thankfully was put right by Louise and Mrs M before ordering my threads. They recommend (and I heartily endorse) AcrossTown for your threads, great prices and quick service. (Technical point: I have problems looking at this site using Firefox, but Internet Explorer works fine)

Some of the designs look amazing although I've never really taken on a project so massive before. They do look really stunning though - almost as good as the real thing!

OMG there are some wonderful things here....mustn't look, mustn't look...I have my Astrnomer to keep me busy for the next year!! Think I will ask DS1 if there is anything he fancies in the future (into art of all kinds).

Sorry you don't fancy anything there Mrs M, but then you have plenty on your plate already!!

Right off to slice my bread - 4 loaves made yesterday...think I have cracked it at last!! Mr T delivery imminent, so have to make space in the kitchen.

Hope to get back to the Astronomer this afternoon...at last away from the dark blacks and blues...though there are lots more waiting for me!

Thanks for the advice ladies, will get them ordered by the weekend.
Have decided I'm not going to make a start on anything at the moment so that when the materials arrive for the Fairies I can get started on them straightaway and not have a UFO lying around :D

    Afternoon all

I've been lurking for a while now, and I'm hoping you don't mind me joining in...

I've been stitching for years and love it but, recently, pregnancy has seen me spending all my spare time sleeping instead of stitching :rotfl:

My stitching mojo is starting to come back at last, and I'm drawing inspiration from you loveley lot to catch up on my UFOs. I have two round robin pieces to do and then I've got an orchid piece to finish for my living room...

I'll post a picture of the orchid one later, but I'm not showing the round robin ones as they're meant to be a surprise for the originators... tbh I'm that late with them that I think getting them back will be the surprise :o

I've only got a couple of hours of stitching plus backstitch on one round robin, then I need to get cracking on the other one and that's where I'm hoping you'll all be able to help me. I need a fairly simple design, no bigger than 100 x 100 stitches, and the theme is 'fantasy'... I've been right through my stash and haven't got anything remotely suitable, so any and all pattern suggestions welcome!

    TIA

Nanny Ogg, just seen something about fantasy coming up in a next magazine.

Hang on and I'll go and look, I'll try to be quick but excuse me if it takes a while. Got a littlie sleeping at the mo so I'll do it now in the hope she won't wake up. xxx

Sorry NannyOgg. It seems I was thinking of the Celtic knotwork motifs coming in next months World of Cross Stitching magazine.

My friend is into fantasy type designs and I mentally logged them as a good idea for her birthday card.

Hope you find what you are looking for. I'm sorting my old magazines for ebaying as and when I get a minute so if I see anything else suitable I'll let you know.

Has anyone had a problem when trying to order from the acrosstown site?
I want to order a kit and the 20 threads I need but they won't all go in the same basket so I am getting charged 2 lots of p+p.
In one basket I have the kit and the other basket has the 20 threads.

If anyone has any idea what I am doing wrong please let me know :o If not I shall email them tomorrow and see what they suggest.
