Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Thanks Mrs M, some of the designs are gorgeous and I wondered what the difference was in the end if any.

Harley1: I think you are right about that, while I don't have any children myself, I know ones that are relaxed and ones that are tense and it's reflected in their children.

Which browser have you used shelley? I had great problems using Firefox, but Internet Explorer was fine.

Admittedly I was only ordering threads, so I can't comment on adding more to the basket. I did order 150 threads, and emailed Louise at AcrossTown attaching a spreadsheet with all the thread numbers that I needed before I ordered online. She replied that same night, saying she had all but two, so she sent the rest and the others will be sent once she has them in.

Louise is one of the great font of knowledge on this thread (Mrs Mcawber is another), so I would follow her advice. You can always get in touch with AcrossTown, even if you email now, you could well get a reply tonight.

    Good luck with your order.

Iv'e been using IE. Have now rebooted router, cleared temp internet files and deleted cookies so going to give it another go. If no luck I'll fire off an email and hope they can help me.

  • Thanks to Louise, EllieP and Maria and the Imps for the lovely cross stiches you sent me. It really means a lot. Things have been a bit hard the last few days and receiving these has really brightened my days. Hopefully I will be feeling up to start stitching tomorrow so I can let you all know how I am doing! Thanks so much.

    Now I feel like a tightwad!! :o

After clearing out temp files, cookies and rebooting router earlier I tried to do the order again. In fact I tried placing the order through 4...yes 4 different browsers.

No luck at all!! I have sent an email telling them the problem but now I feel like a tightwad for doing so because all I'm saving by placing 1 order is a £1.50 p+p charge.
Compared to some sites £1.50 is very cheap for delivery but also £1.50 is the difference between giving acrosstown the custom or buying from ebay.

Question for those of you that have done or are doing a HAE design, how much like the original does the final cross-stitch end up?

    It's pretty close

    Here is the original painting:

And the stitched version so far:

The stitched one is darker than the painting looks, but I have to take the blame for some of that for not lighting it properly lol

It's not that though - it is something which could put some potential customers off so I'm sure they would rather it was pointed out to them so they can get the fault (whatever it is) fixed.

I have only ever ordered threads from them so hd never expeienced the problem.

Ruth, thanks for the link to the tesco deal. I think I see a day off work coming so I can browse round when it's not the busy saturday. I'll have to see how much spending money I'll have by then.

Has anyone been to the sewing for pleasure etc shows before? are they worth going to?

I've started to upload pics of my finished work onto Photobucket and thought I would share the first one (and also check that I can do it properly!). Please ignore the fingerprints ;). I stitched this for a "friend" on another forum who was upset when MJ died.
