Morning all ...popping on with this weeks update
    last week :-
    forest29jan.th.jpg
    this week:-
    forestlight5feb.th.jpg

and I have remembered to take one with the pic next to it for Kez ...if you click on the pic you will get a better look. the actual sewing is a shade darker than it shows up (had to use the flash as it was dark when I took it)-so its pretty much the same shade as the picture ;)
I deffinitely plan to do more HAE designs now...I picked this one as it was a "small" one (10.5"X13") as I wanted to see how good the detail was an I love it :T
    forest5feb.th.jpg
Im having to nip out for a couple of bits of shopping (very over-rated in my opinion :p)then Im set to settle down and sew some more :j.. I reckon a couple of weeks or so and this one will be done :T, then I need to sew the beads onto my Celtic Summer -BEFORE I allow myself to start my golden earth (orange lady) :A:rotfl:
Hope everyone has a good day and finds time to do a few stitches... off to shop :(-the sooner I go the sooner I get back :p

MRSM - She is looking great :j Not long now eh

Can I ask - how many stitches high and wide is the QS?? I'm going to get HAE's QS 'stealing the moon' and trying to decide whether to do that before my other full size projects.

  • no problem bubbles hope you are feeling better soon
i agree im so laid back with my children dont get me wronge they know there boundaries and im always told how lovely and well behaved they are, but if they behave they can pretty much do any thing they want with in reason and my eldest who is 6 is always rewarded for working hard at school, and they know that for example if he wants a new computer game, he has to behave and work for it, i dont mean i send him out to scub floors but his room has to be tidy and stuff. i really encourage them to be independant to and learn to do things for themselves im basically the same as my mum was with me, and i havent turned out to bad lol
and definatley dont buy to many clothes you will end up with loads

    Oooooooohhhhhh excitement -
My frames have just arrived from sew along :j-that is my reward for going to the "bad place" *supermarket* :D.... I have the 9" 11" and 14" -I have put my forest light onto the 14" and its as tight as a drum :T...and they are much sturdier than I was expecting:D-I will get off and see how I get on with it in a moment (If I get on with them I may have to get my mum a couple)

    *Louise* -forest light is 150 x 186 stitches -and should only be 6" X 7 3/8" when done as recommended on 25ct -but because I have done 28ct over 2 threads it is 10.5" X 13" ;)
How many stitches are in the "stealing the moon"? I looked on sewalong but it didn't say, and I can't see it anywhere else ... she is beautiful and I have also fallen for these 2 QS

    but I will remain strong...for now :p
Right -off to try out my new goodies :rotfl:

Neither could I - I am going to work on the assumption that they reduce the QS's all down to roughly the same size - so that's about half the size of the Lake pic, as I will be doing it on 28ct as well.

Those other ones are BEAUTIFUL, I like the first one the most.

Good luck with your frames, hope you find that it makes things easier :)

Ooohhhh, stop it with the QS links - they're gorgeous and I'm supposed to be working, not looking at cs patterns:rotfl:

Excellent thank you! I was mooching on HAED site yesterday and some of the designs have caught my eye, so they have been faved until such time I need a new kit.:A
  • Hi, sorry for barging in but I've been reading this thread with great interest, having just picked up the birth announcement piece I started for my youngest (who was 6 last month:o).

I'm amazed at all your wonderful work and hope you don't mind a couple of questions.

First - how "quick" do you stitch? I timed myself last night and managed to sew four 45cm lengths of thread in an hour. When I look at how much thread there is in the kit, then at that rate I want to cry! Am I just too slow?

And second - I noticed that Louise and MrsMcawber in particular both seem to sew in straight lines (what I mean is, you both have straight lined blocks left to sew). How do you do this? My cross stitch is all over the place - bits here and there to try and get the form of the picture but your way looks much more organised!

    Thanks so much.

    Hi Polly

Don't worry -I don't sew in straight lines , I go off on a tangent.... I now stick to a 1/4 of a page at a time -so I go all over the place during the week -but it just falls that when Im due to update on a Friday I have filled in the gaps so it "looks" like Im nice n tidy :rotfl:
I think it just looks like we are tidier because we are both dewing patterns with straight edges ....it wouldn't be as noticable if the design didn't have those :p. I always start in the middle and then sort of work around it one chunk at a time...if that makes sense :rotfl:
As for how fast you sew-don't get upset, it soon grows...and "some of us" -ok me :D-don't have children and things to see to, so I get to sit longer than many :shhh:
Hope you post updates of how you are getting on... we are a nosey bunch :D
