I have to say *Louise* ....:iloveyou: :rotfl:....those frames are fan dabby dozy :T.....Im working on the 14" one.... I really think I could do with bigger for the next few projects -but I don't think it would be comfy to hold...so I might have to stick with the 14"

Hahahaha that made me laugh - Hubby is looking at me funny :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Glad you are finding it useful, and great that your hubby is getting back into it - look forward to seeing HIS updates at some point:T

here are the 2 carebear designs I have (mentioned previously)

the "follow your rainbow was the one that went wrong. :( It also seems to be realllly rare (for anyone searching) and the site these pics came from was the only place i could find it.

edit: someone has computer generated it and put on ebay without the wording if anyone did want it
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I once read in a magazine that when they give a timescale for a project, for instance 2 weeks or 40 hours, they assume everyone is an experienced stitcher and they stitch for 3 hours a day :(
That would explain why my Home Sweet Home stitch from a mag took me longer than the 3 weeks given... :p

I plan on doing a few small projects as well through the year, I can take these to work on while I wait in doctor/hospital waiting rooms, or other public places where my Astronomer would be too big.
I do this too. I've been known to cross-stitch at Touring Car meetings inbetween waiting for the next race to start, stitching on long motorway journeys (I'm not driving ;)) and also when waiting for mum when she had a foot op.

It helps keep your mind on that main project at home. Though Ive been known to take the whole frame with me when I'm staying at a familiar location. Used to be my ex's family in West Yorkshire.

    :-)

Here is my one I have just finished, didnt put everything on that was in the pattern but its come out OK.
That's lovely Pennib. Looked like it was a pleasure to stitch.
  • First - how "quick" do you stitch? I timed myself last night and managed to sew four 45cm lengths of thread in an hour. When I look at how much thread there is in the kit, then at that rate I want to cry! Am I just too slow?

    Thanks so much.
Hi Polly, don't worry too much about your speed. You'll find that some days will click more than others and you'll get loads done all at once. ;-)

I have to say I've never timed myself, but people have commented that I stitch fast though I'm not sure. :o

I usually think oh I want to get to there by the end of the night but I usually over estimate how long it'll take to do that part...

As for tidyness, I like to try and stitch one colour at a time, which is easy with Winnie The Pooh cross-stitches, so I try not to stick to boxes of stitching as it were.

It's really what you find works for you at the end of the day. As you do more stitching you'll discover different ways of completing the stitching.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. That's what we are all here for.

I was having a wee browse and spotted this blog:

    http://rebeccaneedleniche.blogspot.com/2008/01/starting-new-rotation.html

I thought it was a really unusual way of dealing with 'confetti stitching'.

I don't think I could work that way, all those threads would annoy me...not to mention getting tangled etc.

Does anyone else stitch that way?

    Afternoon all

*Louise* - that would drive me nuts... I can't even get on with having more than one needle threaded at a time :p-I thread, use, unthread and put it away in its bag then thread etc...
I have popped on to announce that hubby has finished his owl :T. He sat this morning and finished it off... about 60 french knots :rotfl:-all those seed heads are knots
    owldone.th.jpg
So here is the one that he is now sat working on ;)
    owlpolly.th.jpg
I put all the threads back in the file from the 1st one, mark up his bags and sort the threads, press the fabric etc for his next one as Im much quicker..so my sewing has been interupted -but I will be going right back to it in a moment..and hubby is doing dinner tonight -so I can work through :j
The one he is doing now is on 32ct, with fractionals etc -so that should keep him quiet :D-although when I looked at the fabric I thought the holes were invisible -so he is doing well to have made a start :T
right -off I go -hope everyone is well and getting some sewing done:D

Afternoon all, haven't caught up on posts, just wanted to share...

I finished my rr bear last night and posted it back to Canada this morning :j

And I got my round robin piece back in today's post :j:j:j It looks grand :D

I have a stack of housework to get through , then I will be taking a leaf from Keiss' book and rewarding myself with some stitching time - sorting out threads for Chickywiggle's unicorn and hopefully making a start on sewing it... if I can get the damned printer to work!

Hopefully it won't be long before I can get cracking on my orchids

I think this forum has been the kick up the rear I needed all along - I can't remember the last time I was this productive :rotfl:

Ooh, and hubby's just called to say he'll be home in an hour or so - that means I get some help with the housework... ;)

Wow, what fantastic work everyone :T:T:T:T - I was going to say girls, but Mr M's owl looks fantastic!! He obviously has a thing about owls - well done on getting things organized for him Mrs M.

I have not done any sewing since Thursday, and I am getting withdrawl symtoms!! I will get some done once I get off the computer.

I supervised DH and DS2 cutting down (some of) the two lilac trees at the front this morning. More than half the branches were dead and overgrown with ivy, so a severe pruning was called for. I have been asking for this to be done for years, so at last it has been started. They stoped for lunch and are now watching the Ireland vs Italy rugby match, but they will have to get back out there soon (at least I think so! ;)). They have carried a lot of the branches round to the back, but there is still lots to move, as well as a few more big branches to cut through. DH is loving the chainsaw (we got it Xmas 2008), this is its first day of being used!! Our neighbours can't wait to get their cars parked by the side of our garden now...the lilacs made a good canopy, but got rather overgrown the past year or two. So no flowers this year, but we'll will get lots of growth which will need keeping in check. Don't know how old these lilacs are....at least 25 years I suspect. This drastic cut back will do the trees the world of good.

I managed to get some pruning done, while keeping an eye on the boys. I have got the viburnum and ivy by the path back under control, so you don't have to battle your way to get to the house down the path! It's amazing how much everything has grown over the past year. I usually give everything a good trim a couple of times a year, but being ill and unable to garden for over a year really shows! So now, even though I can't do much of the heavy work, I can at least supervise my men to get the job done!! :D

Have a great weekend everyone...quite a productive lot of fingers here!!

No way! the back of that work must be soooo messy!

I couldn't work like that. If I'm working something like that I have many needles each with coloured thread and then work as much as I can within reach not stretching more than 3 squares away at most (I work aida)

OMG:eek: I would be in a tangle after the 1st 2 stitches!! lol

I have been at work today doing overtime and then been shopping so haven't had a chance to do any stitching yet :(

But I'm going to have an early night tonight once I've done the housework, opened a bottle of wine and ate loads of goodies :rotfl:

Then I can spend all day tomorrow stitching :T:j
