fH everyone
Well I just thought I would post to let you know I am about to do my first stitching in years! Excited about it but also kinda scared incase I mess it up or dont have the patience.
My dad this morning has asked me to make one for my mums birthday which is in June. He has bought this as my mums name is rose and this is a kind of Rose and my breakdown has been really hard on my mum so it being angel of a new dawn is really thoughtful of him:

which is a pretty big project when I am just starting out again! He has bought the chart online from america somewhere but is leaving it to me to get the cottns and aida using his money. Thing is I hardly leave the house and have no idea where to buy them from and I dont like the material at all and the colours of the cross stitch wont fit anywhere in our house! (men have no idea do they!). Our living room which is where it would probably go is red but I dont know how to change the colours properly when buying the thread. I think a glitter aida would be nice but dont even know if one exists!
God even a cross stitch pattern is getting me stressed now!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j

Hi bubbles
A lot of us use http://www.across-town-stitching.talktalk.net/
for threads -if you need quite a few click on their "offers" and you can buy in 50, 100, 150, 200 ...the 200 are £56 :j a super price compared to the 75-85p they normally cost..
I use this company for fabric
http://www.sewalong.co.uk/
although Im sure everyone else will be along with ideas for other places soon...
As to your dad picking one for you - could you convince him to let you pick one that will go with the house yourself? if so, sew along are brilliant and have sooooooooo many charts to choose from. It may be a lot less stress than trying to swap colours-although if he has his heart set on that one you are in trouble
Hope that ramble makes sense, and hope you post pictures once you get started...-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hello All
No update - my nephew is here on holiday and no stitching got done at all. I am off to start some soon as him and hubby are away for 5 days to Amsterdam and left me behind to work
Everyones work is looking wonderful. I did manage to work out the lettering I am going to put on the floral alphabet when finished.
Think I will get a cuppa and get on with it - I have the sofa to myself - usually I sit on my "sewing" chair. Then treat myself to take out as the boys are away.
Kind wishes to all - hope all is well.

To be honest, I think that design is very ambitious and you would struggle to finish it by June. Personally, I would rather find a smaller design that I really liked and stitch that instead. If you're just getting back into stitching, this is really jumping in at the deep end and you might end up getting really stressed because it's taking longer than expected. There are loads of really nice rose designs available, and I would recommend www.sewandso.co.uk for fast service and a huge range of kits to choose from.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hi guys, great work going on
My head has been elsewhere this week as i've had to unpick loads and redo it, hopefully i'm back in the swing of things now. As a result i've not done as much as i'd liked but i did reach the bottom of the design :j I've also decided to do cross stitch cards for birthdays this year, i have already got a cute design for my neice, will post it once done, but her birthday isn't till june so i got plenty of time

He has already bought the chart for this one before even discussing it with me! he thought it made sense as my mums name is rose and the pattern is named after a rose. Now that sounds romantic until I remember in 47 years of marriage he has never given her a valentines card!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j

You could still stitch that chart for a future birthday. Just explain to him that 4 months isn't a lot of time to stitch something so complex and big.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Yes I go with ruth_honey's suggestion, it won't be done for June this year, but maybe next year would be a better target?
It certainly isn't worth the stress to get it completed in 4 months.0
