My dd has and ear infection so I have had to have a day off today and work were not too pleased and let me know the policy that states that if 2 days off are taken due to children being ill then the second day would be unpaid. What do other peoples employers do just out of interest? I know that my school is not a charity but it just seems annoying when I am very healthy and go in when a bit under weather but others don't bother (or maybe theie children are ill and they are lieing?);)
QUOTE]
Same policy here Thifty and most other schools I've worked in - do know quite a few people who have phoned in 'sick' when it is their kids who are poorly.
I did have one week when I missed 4 days when dd had a fit after her mmr jab and was in a bad way in hospital. My boss at the time didn't stick to the rules then and put it down as me being off with stress due to her illness. Every other time I have had to either beg nan, friends, dh etc to look after poorly children or lose pay despit having an excellent sickness record myself. Sorry can't be nay more help. Enjoy your hols anywayMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Morning everyone  I have woken up to snow again :jalthough not enough to build a :snow_laug
Hope all are well. Hugs to all who need them :grouphug:
I think santa clause might be bringing me this kit
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=61391&ww=1 :j but I can't decide whether to stitch it all as it is or whether to stitch the designs individually. I guess I could stitch the designs individually and frame as one ? would this work ? or should I just stitch on one piece of material ? im tempted to buy some magic evenweave to stitch it on !has anyone tried this yet and do the gridlines wash out ? I've asked for it on evenweave - but the magic evenweave is 25 count not 28 count as will be supplied - will this make a difference to the size of material I will need ?0 -
Congratulations Welshlassie

i have to take unpaid leave if my child is poorly (best to pretend you are sick!!) hope dd feels better soon.
my manager made me laugh yesterday..... cause i've been off sick 4 times in a year she has to do a sickness absence stage 1 meeting. however as all 4 were preg related (1 = miscarrage, 2 = violent morning in this preg. couldn't actually move out of bed, 3=up all week with itching due to preg and had to get emergency dr appt., 4=signed off due to point 3) absolutly nothing will happen and she can't see the point in doing it but hr said she has too!! :wall:
meal was good last night, managed about half my pizza before ds2 started using me as a bouncy castle, couldn't stomache any more then. HOW other people managed their hugee starters and an entire main i'd love to know. on the plus side i spent less then £10 all night!!but OMG some of the sights i saw!! i was dressed up in 100 layers and still cold and saw people wearing dresses - with no coat - i have nightclothes with more material to them then those dresses. how did they do it????????????????
and to top it ds decided 6.30am was a good getting up time...... am praying he goes for a nap in a miute then i'm gonna get my stitching out. was very good and didn't start a new project instead pulled out the "i stitch therefore i stash" to finish - thought it'd be a good start to the new year.
flateric i like those cats, why not do same as me - i am gonna make my 2011 challange to stitch that months calendar bear (on one piece of aida). so januarys bear in january etc. that way i should be able to fit in other projects and not get bored of it.:xmastree:6 days till the new 2011 thread (to give people a chance to sign up/ join us/ find the thread before the new year).

oh thats a good idea. I hadn't thought of that ! thank you :-0)
I have decided on my xmas project which is going to be this
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=59654&ww=1
and I am going to stitch it on the magic evenweave that I have and see how I get on with it. If all works fine (and the lines disappear when the kit is finished and washed) then I might *treat* myself to enough material to do the whole kit although I'm still tempted to do the design on individuals pieces - will ponder that.
Tiny bit of tidying up to be done then think I will get cracking :j0 -

ohh i like.
How crafty are you....... just an idea but....... you could stitch on individual bits. then sow each one to a large felt/ fabric rectangle. and make a 'calender' for next year so receipts etc can be kept in it.
lol i'd never have rooom for it in my house thinking about the size but it soundd good in my head.
i've used magic aida and the lines came out fine.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Good morning all, I hope you are all well. Hello to Bubbles, sorry to hear about your troubles, but I'm pleased to hear that you are on the mend and also beginning to stitch again.
I've had to bring my work stitching home (snowflakes for cards) as I've only got one finished so far, and I need a couple more really...
It was our works do last night, I actually danced for the first time in ages! Good fun and good food had by all.
We had about 1 inch and 1/2 of snow overnight so here's a picture for you:
My other half is into RC cars, so I think we will be going out for a bit of 'crawling' in the snow.
Looking forward to the new thread for 2011! That year went fast and think of all the projects we have completed along the way!0 -
NOW that is pretty snow Kez - we've not had any more yet up here.
well some dumbo forgot to buy the apples for muffin weekend so has pear and cinneman ones in the oven instead (recepie here). don't know how many it makes but am up to 20 with tons of mixture left..... they will either be feeding work next week or being put in the freezer or both. (i just won't tell em DS kept sticking his fingers in it saying "taste"........ apparently its pretty nice.
muffins out - a bit tooo cinnemmannemmmnneeyy. hope they aren't alll like that.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
We have finally got our snow - about 8 inches so plenty for snowman building. Luckily dh is off work today so hopefully he will be alright for tomorrow.
Have been good and housewrkey and helped rescue two cars and a lorry that have got stucknear our house - we live at the top of a very steep road, on the corner and the road infront of the house lead down to bollards so we are forever getting stuff going down the road by mistake. Carpet tiles and a sheet to the rescue!
Am sending dh walking into town later with dd to get a doctor who dvd and am going to selfishly stitch:TMortgage £119,533 going down slowly
