I used to work in a bank and to cancel a direct debit you must notify the bank AND the company you have the direct debit with. If you cancel it at the bank only, the company can reinstate it.

Oh, I know you're supposed to...but all the other mags that I've had subscriptions with I've cancelled easily online and not needed to write to them. Just thought I'd warn everyone in case they do it like I do and got caught out. I just ended up having to pay for some extra mags. Not too much of a problem, but might be for others if they didn't have enough in the bank to cover it.

I did a bit of stitching today. Noticed that my sig said to finish the Spool Tree by end of October, so I dug it out again and did some backstitching on it. It's not far off being done. All the cross stitch is finished. There's some backstitching to make the ferns on the spools. I did a few of those this afternoon, but there's several more to do and they are stitched in 2 strands of different shades of green-so longer to measure out & thread the needle. I'm not stitching the buttons on this time as I used them all up stitching my tree. I think it looks nice enough without anyway. Might finish it tomorrow, if I feel up to stitching, so will post a pic.

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • It's a lovely kit, there are a couple of bits that are stitched seperately and then attached, and the chickens are stitched over one thread instead of two so a bit of a challenge!

I think it looks fab does sound a bit faffy though. I'll see how you get on lol . Then i might be cheeky and ask for a ;);)

Sweetcarer, what's your company's policy for Snow continuity? My company has a policy which basically states that if I couldn't get to work I would need to work those hours back once I was able to get back into work. It's worth checking out.

Definitely worth asking. We have 3 options - unpaid, make the hours back or use holiday.

  • Did a bit of stitching last night again. :) But was a bit distracted from a new game on Facebook were you post your status asking people to send you a message with a number between 1-1000 and then you update your status with this number and a message about that person and it's meant to be anonymous.

Hoping for a new camera under the Christmas tree, so will be able to keep you posted. And of course you can ;);)

Sweetcarer - I know am only a newbie here - but from what I've seen you've been through a heck of a lot recently so 'moaning' as you say is more than allowed....

Glad you made it back to work xxxx If I was your boss I'd say Pah! to the 2 days and ignore them x :D

hey, less of that! less of the apologising, (you're not moaning anyway), and yes, more of the stitching!
    Anyone heard from Bubbles lately?
hope she's ok. hope she's still reading along and stitching lots, just not in the mood to talk. thats fine. hello bubbles if that's what you're up to!

i've had a look at the website of the shop Ruth recomends, and it looks great. i really like the look of the baking and sewing samplers, but at 32 quid they're out of my price range. that's for the full kit, i've never bought a big one, how's the price seem to you? has anyone stitched either before?

  • It's a Bothy Threads kit - everything they sell is expensive.

The only one of theirs I have done is "Row of Fairies". The kits are good quality, the matierals are good, and the instructions are excellent. I think it's about the right price (sadly) Also, they don't just sell charts, so you have to buy the full kit (sorry)
