Also, sorry if I'm stating the obvious here:o, but don't go back through the exact same spot - split the fabric a tiny bit next to the hole and go back through that part. That means you have a strand of fabric 'in' the knot and stops it all going back through the hole..

    Hope that makes sense?
Thanks Louise but nope I still can't make it work. I always have left a gap but it just doesn't knot to begin with. Am sure it'll click one day....... I remember once (i think the 3rd time i tried) i had the most perfect knot but never since.

I was going to say what Louise said so I'm afraid I'm no help :o
I had to do a couple today and the first ones I tried didn't work. When I watched the video again I realised I was going back down the same hole.

Meant to say earlier today that I have finished my current project :T Can't frame it yet though because I tried it in the broken frame I have here that was meant for Rubys xmas present and if I want to keep the 'decorative buttons' on it I need a deeper frame. It will fit ok if I take out the glass but it looks much nicer behind glass. (leaving the glass in makes the back board bow out away from the frame so not possible to hang)

Now I just need to decide what what spanking new one do I start next? decisions decisions :D

Mrs M, you are definitely a bad influence!!!

I got into the back of the cupboard on Sunday. Managed to find the Symphony frame (though not yet had chance to try it) and found this UFO (http://www.sewalong.co.uk/ProductFull.asp?sel1=(MD)MD-39). I got most of the lady done only to find that they had not given the correct fabric size and there was not enough fabric for the stitches at the very top and bottom. I put it away, so upset as there were months of work in it up until that point, thinking that one day I would try to figure out how to rescue it.

I think maybe that day will come soon. If anyone has any experience of this or any ideas then I would appreciate the help. As far as I can see I have stopped at the bottom of the thickest trail of sash at the bottom, so was thinking just to not do the plaque thing, and I've not done any of the border or urn so maybe I could just do the urn and change the border a bit to fit the fabric.

Unfortunately, although I found the Mirabilia, I never found the stocking chart that I actually went in there for. Did anyone have any luck identifying it for me before I order the threads for the other one? I'm very keen to have it ready for Kezias second Christmas and know that means I'll have to start it very soon since everything takes me so much longer now that she is here.

Have a lovely stitching day all,

    xxxxx

  • thanks, I don't know... well i DO it doesn't knot - it just kinda falls off the top (hole) end of the needle or unravils. I find it quite hard to keep it tight when putting the needle back thro as I don't have 3 hands (1 for the needle, 1 for the thread and 1 for the hoop)
Sorry to hear that you are still having trouble Chickywiggle, have you tried resting your hoop on your lap? I usually pull the thread taut in my left hand and slowly pull the needle through with my right, watching it has it goes over the top of the needle. Keeping the 'knot' close to the fabric as I do so.

Practice makes perfect, I'm sure it'll click one day. When I come to do mine, I'll see if I can get a picture taken.

I am well Maria, hope you are well too. :)

Stuck at work - rather be sewing. Day dreaming of what to do after the floral alphabet. Half thinking of doing golden earth - Mrs Macs orange lady. I did find another UFO in shed - floral garland year by jo verso. Also have a couple of anniversery items to do - maybe best doing them ahead of time so I have them done. (my parents are 40 years married and hubbys are 50 years). Got the patterns - just need to get thread and material.

Hope everyone else is well - better get on with some work :wall:

    Kind wishes

    sweetcarer ;)

I was on a site the other day and noticed new HAE designs. They truly are gorgeous, especially the one you have linked to. I'd love to do one but not sure I'd have the patience :o I like sampler type projects or projects that have lots of little bits going on...that way I seem to see progress quickly which keeps my interest.
