I too use the thread organiser boxes, have 5 of them at the moment. However, I stand my threads upright and have the numbers on the right hand side of the bobbin so I can instantly see which colour it is.
Today I was detemined to get my x-stitch angel finished (1 month and 1 day to do her) so at approx 6pm tonight I threaded the last bead onto her. I have taken photo's now one with flash and one without. What do you think? She is going to be a Christmas present this year for my mate but I am debating whether to frame her or try stretching her over a canvas....something I've not tried before.

Just realsied on the phot's you can't really see the beads but she has gold mill hill beads dotted around the design.£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
poppett your angel looks lovely. I tend to frame my designs because it's 'safe' and protects the design from dust but I like your idea of stretching her over a canvas, and it looks like you have enough spare fabric round the edges for that.0

poppet that angel is gorgeous i think i would frame her so she didnt get dusty xx13 in 2013 challenge 9/130

Wow poppet that angel is gorgeous, love the bead idea too to add a little sparkle. Blimey just read the last few threads and you lot are so organised! All my threads are just shoved into a bag with no order whatsoever and the ones i am using are on a hand made cardboard thing which I cut and slot the threads into each slot with their colour name listed.
Must have a nose more closely at those threads and get more organised - any excuse to buy more stationery ;-)
Well I am now outlining my angels and am nearly there. Have to do a few french knots which I haven't tried before so that will be interesting - any tips?0 -

Seriously I have been trying to do them for (counts on her fingers) 5 years and have only ever got 1 to work, and tried loads of ways. So if any harderned cross stitchers do have foolproof instructions do share.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

I found this video very helpful when trying french knots for the first time http://www.needlenthread.com/2006/11/french-knot-video-tutorial.html (you need to scroll down the page a little way and hit the start button)
My advice is try a few on a scrap piece of fabric first because the more you do the better you get

Beads are much easier! I can do french knots but they are fiddly little things to get perfect.£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
Woo hoo :j, I’ve finished my jug of daffodils and it’s now framed and wrapped (with one day to spare). I have just realised that I forgot to take a picture so I shall now have to do that tomorrow when it gets unwrapped again!
Now I get to decide whether to start a shiny new project or be virtuous and finish one of the four  (yes four!) UFOs I unearthed when I first found this thread. Most are only awaiting backstitching
(why do I hate it so much?) I have a WTP height chart and afghan to do before my daughter gets too old and something for a friends new baby due in April, haven’t decided what yet. I also have materials for a white tiger, African sunset, birds of paradise and two advent calendars…
Ok, I must be good, I will finish at least one UFO before I start anything new :rotfl:
