Well, I am nearly ready to start stitching, though I have been making myself do other things round the house this morning, or they will never get done. My reward is a tidier house...and no guilt at spending the rest of the day and evening sewing!!

I have just a quick question - for those who use 28-count evenweave specifically. What size needle should I use? I have gold-plated needles both 24 and 26. Some places say use 24s and other say 26!! So I am confused! :undecided

I might just have a play on some scrap material, and see which feels and looks better.

My fingers are getting itchy, despite the cold!! Only 7 degrees in the conservatory where I plan on doing most of my sewing...might have to get the heater on!! :D

    Afternoon all

Yup-I have been sat on muy bum x-stitching this morning -I stopped to make cheese n onion pasties for lunch -and that is it :D..and its jackets n salad for tea ..and hubby has volunteered to do that :jwell it would be rude to refuse wouldn't it :rotfl:

Keiss -Im affraid Im no help with needles because I always use the finest shortest needles you can get (heck knows what size they are though). I can't use the ones you get with kits -they feel like darning needles :p

I have just had my emial from Jayne at Sew along to say my frames are on their way :T..

Hope your sewing MOJO comes back soon Louise .....and hope evryone is off getting lots of sewing done.

We are still getting snowed on and its about 10" deep now -so staying in seems like a great idea...
Right best get back and get some more done ;)
    Have a great day everyone

Keiss - I would use the smaller one if you are comfortable with it.

The larger the needle, the more it stretches the holes in the fabric, using the smaller needle will keep the stitching 'closer' iyswim.

    Get moving!!!!:D

Thanks for that Mrs M. I ordered both from Sew Along, I suppose I should ask Jayne for advice, she has been really helpful when I have needed info. I have found that she only lives a few miles away from us (well, 20 or so)...just as well she doesn't have a shop...that would be sooooooo dangerous!!! :D

Right, off to have lunch, warm up the conservatory and perhaps even get started on the Astronomer this afternoon! Oooh I can't wait. There is something oddly delicious in delaying doing what you really want to do!! :)

Thanks Louise....lunch first though, don't want to get veg soup on my fabric, there's enough colours without adding any more! :rotfl: I am also freezing, so need to warm up, I can hardly feel my fingers atm, not much use for sewing!!

  • Afternoon all,

No stitching as yet today :( Had a list of things to do first, which is taking it's time.

Hoping to get some in this afternoon and evening, while I wait for my boyfriend to come down from Luton. :D

Managed to slip down the stairs this morning, bum's a little sore after bouncing down a couple of steps. :o Whoops!

Keiss: That's certainly some will power there, I wouldn't be able to wait to start something that's new!

    Hi All

Well my tiger project - is still not finished - I was really on a roll last year with it and got down to the final week and was so busy with work that I never did get it finished for my mums birthday so it is now becoming her mothers day present instead although I will be able to get it framed up nicely and cleaned by then too which is nice.

Am looking for some new projects though - I have got to be careful with gifts etc this year as money is going to be very tight once I go onto maternity leave so trying to make gifts that are nice and cost effective without looking cheap so I brought a garden cross stitch designs book which is really cute so think I might make a few gifts/cards using some of those patterns for people and have an old file of patterns which ill have a look through later too for ideas.

Looking forward to doing some more cross stitching with you all soon

Really should change the date on the camera :o

Got a ton of stuff to do - nephew coming to stay for a couple of weeks holiday - so need to sort house out. Can't be bothered if I am honest, rather stitch or even sleep - I get so tired at times.

Nice to see progress on everyones work as someone says in their quote "one stitch is one more closer" - its true.

    Kind wishes to all
