  • Sorry to but in here ladies (and guys if there's any here) but i havent time to read the whole thread, i was just wondering if anyone could help with a good place thats sells even-weave online and delivers quickly (i do need threads as well so even better if they sell them too). I realized today i need to stitch 2 awards (hopefully A4 is size) by the end of febuary! So i need that fabric quick is, and i guess i'm gonna have to stop my new crocheting hobby.

Please someone help, i bought my last even weave at a event in the local arena and both hobby craft, john lewis and Fenwicks only have aida in.

    Hi spottybutterfly :D

For speed I use this site for fabric, I have always been impressed with their speed:

    http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cat24.html

^^It also sells threads, but for cheaper ones I use:

    http://www.across-town-stitching.talktalk.net/fab.htm

^They are normally quite fast, but my last order did take a week, so maybe not best for you.

What designs are you stitching for the awards?? Are they complicated?

here is the best place we have found for good prices on threads

If you want quite a few threads -click on the "offers" and you get them cheaper for buying 50/100/200 etc

and I have had an email from Johnsons crafts and they have some fabric on sale ;)
    http://www.johnsoncrafts.co.uk/shop/copy_of_copy_of_Fabrics.html

  • Thanks for the replys ladies. Whilst searching on last years cross stitch threads i found http://www.sewdiscounted.co.uk/shop_Fabrics.html had a very resnable priced evenweve, but i cant find if they charge for delivery. (also couldnt find any comments on their speed)

I do have some fabric (enough for one award) left over so if wherever i order from dont come by tues i might just do them both on different fabrics.

I totally didnt reallize how soon the ceromany is, i might get my mam to do one (she's a faster sewer than me anyways). Thankfully theres not loads of coulor changes, i will just use 4/ 5 main colours, what i will be doing is putting cartoon images in to my mums dmc program thats suposed to convert them (but i did that 2 weeks ago as a test for a book mark and to be honist the black lines of the cartoon call got enlarged in to the picture rather than just being back stitch so im having to use a lot of my own guess work so the animals im stitching have manic teeth and eyes).

There being givn to children aged 6-8 but they only get to keep them for a year, im making new awards cos the old plaques have no more space for the engraver to put the names and dates on, where as i can just add to the awards every year.

Last year and the year before we had to take the awards of the children straight after giving them out so they could go to the engravers, so aslong as i get the main pictures (with out the backstiching) done it should be okish.

Just had a quick look for delivery charges and it says in the FAQ section that delivery to the UK is free. Also says you have to have an order of £4 minimum and items that are in stock are dispatched in 7-10 working days....that seems slow to me.

Wow, that one is lovely Mrs M definitely a possible alternative. Not come across the name Durene before though, I'm guessing it is American?

Ah, never thought of it being in a Gold or Collection edition. I get mine on subscription now, Cross Stitcher with my Tesco clubcard points and Cross Stitch Crazy for Christmas present, just waiting for a good subscription gift before I get World of Cross Stitch and I'll never need to pay full price again...
Except now you've got me thinking about differnt magazines. Oh dear, I have no will power at all.

Sunshine, I like the idea of downloading them but you have to sign up which tends to be a bit of a process. And these things quite often take up quite a lot of memory which I don't have on the laptop. My brother is going to look at it soon so I will give it a try then. There was one I found on google but it ended up being about 20 stitches across. Thanks for looking though.

All errands done, still loads of tidying to do but baby is asleep so am going to take the opportunity to do some more to the sheep.

    xxxx

Please, please, please email Tesco's and request more cross stitch magazines in the clubcard deals!!! If we all do, there's so chance we might get them. I like to think I got Cross Stitcher in there because I asked them to get a stitching magazine in the deals and within a few months, it was there!

How is everyone getting on - is there a lot of stitching going on this weekend?

I have lost my mojo a little this week - only half a section done as opposed to a whole one :o have had a lot of paperwork to get done though, so hopefully can get back into things over the weekend.

My aim is to be completed by the end of March....so I need to get cracking lol.
