:jYipee!! :jI found camera and I have finished all the cross stitch and backstitch on the American Anniversery sampler - just to back stitch the personal details. Should do that in next couple of days - need to draw it out. Then to find a nice frame - A4 should do ok - frame it and I can post it - might be late for their anniversery but still a nice surprise for them.
Hope all are well
Kind wishes

Wow you lot have been very busy! Some lovely makes.
I have done a little more of Rocky point and have nearly finished a scarf for my son's teacher. I have also been repairing an afhgan blanket that my friend's stupid husband got stuck in the push chair wheels. He ripped 2 holes in it:eek: so I have had to take the backing off it, edge it with ribbon, iron interfacing on one hole to stop it fraying then have to cross stitch over top and finally put new fleece backing on. Why he kept pushing the bloody thing I do not know stupid man!
Anyway no stitching for me tonight have planning and marking to do:(Cross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0 -
Some lovely work going on.
Oh I've just been on a big learning curve. I've just realised that the whole blue colours (the ocean part) is supposed to be half stitches. I 've done the whole lot in whole stitches and I was wondering why I had run out of blue thread. It's just for me though so I'm going to keep going and finish it. I'll put a pic up when I've finished which should be tomorrow or thurs. And there was me thinking cross stitch was easy. Serves me right for being ignorant and nieve.LBM 04/10:j

Its one of those kits where you just have a load of threads and you have to sort them yourself into "lt green", "black", "peach" etc.
Well so far tonight I have 2 different shades of blue yet only 1 "blue" in the chart coding (and no it won't even pass for grey/ green etc) and 2 different shades of purple again with the same problem.
I haven't finished sorting them yet to see if I am missing any.
ETA: e-mail addy found and message sent.... lets await an answer.
bloomin automated services!! got an e-mail reply saying "Sorry for the problems with the kit. The missing materials will be sent to
you in 7 -14 business days.
Thank you for your email"
amzaing that as i don't think there ARE any missing threads only extra ones.......... DOH!! welll we shall see what arrives.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Yay! I was finally able to sit down last night and start the Piglet cushion. Feels weird going back to Aida though, the stitch count looks massive! It's only 14ct...0

Did anyone watch Kirstie's homemade home last night - they had a feature on cross stitch and it made my very angry!!!! Emily Peacock was showing Kirstie how to do it but she was doing whole crosses every time rather than doing half for the whole row then going back the other way and doing the other half. Just wondered if it was just me that did it like this or does every one else?! Really hard to explain what I mean but hope you guys get me!!! Haven't got a cross stitch project that i'm working on at the mo will have to pick up some of the ufos i have and should really start my friend's baby sampler as she is due in January!!!Keep on comping!

i've not watched any of this series yet (tho it is saved on my sky+). after learning the one way then over the top i resent ever doing individual crosses and only do them when i HAVE too.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

I know what you mean - I know I am going to feel weird after I finish my map and go back to aida :rotfl:Charliec45 wrote: »Did anyone watch Kirstie's homemade home last night - they had a feature on cross stitch and it made my very angry!!!! LOL, yes I know what you mean (and I do it that was as well) however, in their defence I would say that if I was teaching a complete beginner I would start by teaching it the individual crosses way. After they had got the hang of it I would then explain about doing full rows at a time. So maybe that was her thinking behind it.
Shame on Kirstie for not being able to cross stitch already though!! Tsk:rotfl::rotfl:

It's good to know either way, as you can adapt it as needed to what you are stitching.
Talking of cross-stitch on the TV, I watch a programme called Ace of Cakes (It's on the Food Network channel) and they had a request for a stocking cake that was based on a cross-stitched design the person in question completed. The cake decorator had to 'stitch' each one individually with the icing and it was awesome, here's the blog link with the final picture:

Thanks *Louise* glad to hear it's not just me...0
