Hi Girls
Just taking a wee break at work to catch up on whats going on.Yay!
Anyway - this is what I'm working on at the moment. I've had this kit for :mumblemumble: fifteen years :mumblemumble: and only finished three out of nine Santas. They make up into little tree decorations, backed with gold paper and with a hanging loop. I'm onto Santa four, though I suspect they won't all be ready for this year's tree...
These look fun - soft spot for wee santas.23rdspiral wrote: »sweetcarer, you're making good progress there. i hope you dont mind me saying that i think it's so nice to hear you talk about your late husband in the way you do. so many people 'put it behind them' at least verbally, so i really respect how he's still part of your life in such posative ways. :A
When you are with someone such a long time, and I was made a widow quite young (33),tho the goverment says your not a widow till your 45, I wasn't awarded widows pension. It upsets me too that his family don't keep in touch apart from his mum - after all they said at the funeral "you will still be auntie to the kids". Wonder what they tell the kids?:(kezbabybabe wrote: »

Keiss - great to see you stitiching again makes me laugh the wee black cats as I have a black kitten (nearly 8 months old now), she enjoys stitching too. Nearly killed her last night - was sewing away got up to go to bathroom - left stitching on chair by my glass of water - guess who tipped over when I left room - mmmmm. Here she is attempting to sew.
Hope everyone else well and keeping warm - been feeling really cold at night - maybe because I am frightend to put on heating and getting a large bill. Had my flu jag other day there - work insisted - might as well get the pnemonia one from doctor.
Keep up the good work girls - love seeing all your work and hearing how you are getting on with your lives - you all make me feel like I am part of something. Thank you.
Kind wishes

Linda, I'm sure I could nudge the chart over to you
It did originally come as a kit but there's no reason you couldn't assemble the stuff yourself.
That would be great, thank you so much. I'll PM you my e mail address.
I've got some aida and my mum has given me a carrier bag full of odd embroidery cottons left over from the hundreds of things she's stitched - she thinks I'm going to wind it all onto those cardboard bobbins !:D
Thanks again

Can I join the challenge please ? I have many kits and charts in mags to pick from but I think I have narrowed it down to the following: -
1. Country Companions Cricket Design (Ow Zat) K1851. I bought this kit many years ago when I first started cross stitching but it remains unfinished and is very messy because there is lots of tweeding for the hedgehog! Thus Im starting again ! I want to have this finished by the end of May 2011.
2. My friend's wedding sampler. I won't post details here in case she stumbles across this thread but I aim to finish this by the middle of October 2011.
3. A smaller project (with no specific deadline) as a welcome on the side kit. This being Tigger's buzzy bees. bzzzzzzzzz
4. Assuming I stick to the deadlines above, my last big project is going to be the Jack Russell design in last month's Cross Stitcher. I would like to finish this by end December 2011
I will also be doing lots of small card designs on the side :jsweetcarer wrote: »Hi Girls

SHE IS LOVELY !:D:D

It was going to get done last night if it wanted to or not!
Tonight's plan is to tidy up the mess: Put away the threads on to the little plastic spools, wash the stitching and put the needles away for now.
This leaves only two 'big' kits left, which is great, as I want to catch up with everything and then buy a project as a time.
WOW. its fantastic
I'm very excited. I received my copy of Cross Stitcher on Saturday and World of Cross Stitcher yesterday :j I also bought Cross Stitch Card Shop today so plenty to read.:j I haven't read Cross Stitcher yet but I like the snowman under the umbrella Margaret Sherry design and have found some xmas green aida to stitch it on. I don't have all the threads though ? Does anyone have any ideas. I am not allowing myself any more craft spends for quite a while ! so I won't be able to buy the threads. I do have plenty of threads - just not the ones it says...
I agree that the new look cross stitcher might not be to everyone's tastes but I have subscribed for years and there have always been designs that I would not stitch in a million years* ! I like the mixture it offers now. I subscribe to World of Cross Stitching also and have been tempted to subscribe to Cross Stitch Crazy but there is just something about it that puts me off ???
* re my comment here, if you are fans of the celebrity cross stitch designs (particularly those featured in Cross Stitcher) and are after a particular design then please pm me - I may just have it !

Well I'm not as impressed with the second issue of the new look cross stitcher as I was with the first. I reckon they've got about 3 more issues before I start thinking about maybe cancelling. I do like the new style kits (notwithstanding the crappy fabric last month - the other bits were useful!), but too many bitty projects. Am hoping it's just for christmas and not for life, and we'll see the return of some nice decent sized projects in a couple of months.
But am loving the Emily Peacock circus alphabet, but I want to do one as a cushion for the daughter of a friend of mine, the problem being she is called Zoe... Do you think they will make me wait 2 years or possibly have them available on the website at some point?
Am currently project-less - but have a child free morning tomorrow, so off to the lovely lovely shop in Burford to spend too much money :j will update with the new project when have chosen

ab7167, I think they will make you wait 2 years for the 'z' in that alphabet. That's what they did with the Margaret Sherry animals one, they came out on the website at the same time as they came out in each magazine. I came in late and was able to get the whole set off the website except the last few that I got from the mags (and off the web, so I have the full electronic set, can nudge if anyone likes?)
Sorry I still haven't taken a pic of santa, I will do it soon as he's so close to being finished and I know that you nosey lot would like a picture! (don't worry, I'm just as nosey as everyone and always love to see pic of other peoples projects)
I've been allowing myself to take a look at designs for my next project. I want something that isn't Christmassy but I really don't know what to go for. I like to stitch on evenweave so that limits my kit choices unless I buy seperate fabric and swap it out. I love some of the HAED stockings but they are a bit Christmassy, I'm tempted by maybe going for a 'dictionary of' design, perhaps of Dogs or Cakes, but they only seem to come on aida and I don't have the money to buy a kit and still be buying more fabric on top of that. Really I need something I can get in chart form and use my DMC threads on. Does anyone have any ideas? or maybe the suggestion ought to be to finish Santa before I get too into choosing my next project...0 -

If you can do that then you have more self control than me!! :rotfl:I have a list longer than my arm of future designs I want to make - I just love looking. Mind you, it spurs me on to get stuff completed a bit quicker..
A few people on here have done 'dictionary of' designs (unfortunately it's not a design I have ever had a chance to do) - maybe someone could nudge you...;)Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
