Photobucket seems to be ok. After I upload to photobucket I copy & paste the IMG code straight into the reply box here on MSE.

Thanks ellie, that's exactly what I was doing - but it wouldn't show either links from Flickr or photobucket. (I joined up specially as I;d seen other people using it and I wondered if it was just Flickr that was blocked).
Flickr have changed how you grab links from their site, I can help with this if you want, just pm me to let me know, as I helped someone recently with this too.

On the stitching front, I was stitching the next character and managed to get it wrong, so unpick it I did and started again. Still completed my task of getting this animal done before bed, though a bit later than planned.

I'm fairly confident that I should have it done by Friday ready for my holiday, might even get it done by tomorrow night...

  • Hi
Sorry I haven't been around for a while! I have been reading all the posts and admiring all of the progress but I dunno where the time has gone! I have very nearly finished the squirrel cross stitch that I have been working on fingers crossed I will have a picture to post beginning of next week and then I get it framed and wrapped ready for my mums christmas present!!

I still have a couple of bags and purses to sew for people for christmas and a few crochet toys that I wanted to give as presents so no rest for me as I plan on getting these all done by the end of November!

Am VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY happy managed to get Foo fighters tickets today after trying for about 4 hours on and off!! There goes the mortgage overpayment but its got to be done - can't miss an opportunity to see the lovely Dave Grohl again!!!!

    Wohooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :D

I'm starting to wonder should I put it down and do more xmasy stuff. Plus 2 of my best friends got maried this year and if I wouldve had my head screwed on I couldve made them weeding pictures as gifts.

Must start thinking about next year...

Yay! Thank you for that, elliep, shelly and kezbabybabe :)

I'll work on trying to get them a bit smaller next time....oops!

Anyway - this is what I'm working on at the moment. I've had this kit for :mumblemumble: fifteen years :mumblemumble: and only finished three out of nine Santas. They make up into little tree decorations, backed with gold paper and with a hanging loop. I'm onto Santa four, though I suspect they won't all be ready for this year's tree...:rotfl:

    Glad you got sorted Mags.

    Those Santas are lovely!
Since getting back into xstitching I wanted to stitch some tree decs so bought a kit off ebay. The kit includes plastic canvas but I am very nervous about using it. I am worried about cutting the shapes out wonky.
I have a couple of small kits that use thick perforated paper but haven't done them yet due to worrying about cutting out the pieces wonky. :o

If anyone has any tips for me about using perforated paper and/or plastic canvas I'd love to hear them :A

I might pop into my local stitchy shop and see if they have some small pieces I can practice on.

Well you won't know till you give it a go! ;)

You can't really cut them out wonky anyway, as long as you leave a full strip around the design (follow the same line of holes) and use a pair of sharp, pointed end scissors you can't go far wrong.

Perforated paper is even easier to cut through, you should maybe start with one of those just to give yourself some confidence :)

    :T :j :T bravo shelly!!! it's so cheerful!

sammar - i've not seen the dictionary of homes before... am intrigued. so am looking forward to you finishing it! :D

sweetcarer, you're making good progress there. i hope you dont mind me saying that i think it's so nice to hear you talk about your late husband in the way you do. so many people 'put it behind them' at least verbally, so i really respect how he's still part of your life in such posative ways. :A

magscat - those are nice santas. i'm not too keen on the commercial santa type and think those are really nice with the leaves and natural colours. if you hadnt had them so long, i'd be asking where i could buy them!! ;)

Lilliant - you can save threads you want to find easily again by clicking on 'thread tools' at the top of the page and then 'adding subscription' - then when you log in next time click on the USER CP bit at the top and it will take you to them. you dont have to get the email allerts, we gossip too much for that i think!!!! :D

Charlie - ohh, i'm quite jealous! say 'hello' to Dave Grohl for me!!

oh and Hello any newbies and lurkers!!

update - i've been away visiting friends for a long weekend and have had all my headspace filled with mortgage stuff, so havent stitched a cross stitch for a week! (i did do some machine sewing and a little hand quilting on friday as i needed a mindless distraction!)

p.s (i know most of you collect your mags, but if anyone is really peaved with the 2nd new style Crossstitcher, (the 1 after gingham hearts kit), i'd happily help them recoup their costs!!)

Hi all, it's been a while.
I went to my induction for the casual educational officer job at MOSI (Museum of Scienc & Industry, Manchester) I can't wait to get started, will hopefully be observing some of the lessons in a fortnight and then I get to teach them myself. It'll be weird only seeing that set of kids for one lesson and then the go away, but have an inkling of what it's like from a little primary liason stuff I've done before.

Right back to more important stuff the stitching.

I've made very little progress as you can see as I've been busy reading and signing lots of forms for new job.

The work everyone has been doing is really cool, there are some really lovely kits around.
I treated myself to a "world of cross stitching" mag and going to use the metallic threads and the patterns to make gift tags as opposed to christmas cards for my family.

Does any of you know if Heritage Craft have discontinued there "Twilights" line of kits? I can find loads of "Silhouettes" but not the twilights.
Also my OH really likes martial arts films and Manga cartoons so was wondering if anyone knew of any nice patterns which incorporates the two?

P.S. SammyW I use the same lap frame as *Louise* a good friend bought it for me for my birthday this year. That, the bread maker & James Martin cookbook are my three favourite presents this year all are getting used loads.

It was going to get done last night if it wanted to or not!

Tonight's plan is to tidy up the mess: Put away the threads on to the little plastic spools, wash the stitching and put the needles away for now.

This leaves only two 'big' kits left, which is great, as I want to catch up with everything and then buy a project as a time. :o
