Oh - anyone else read this months No1 Crosstitcher yet? Opinions on month 2 of the new look?
I'm still not keen. I like to do fairly large pictures usually, there seems to be a lot of faff involved in everything. I'm not keen on normal stitching and couldn't use a sewing machine if my life depended on itThere isn't anything this month I will make (again)
I do like the little Margaret Sherry snowman and...um...actually that's allI also think they are becoming a little owl obsessed :rotfl::rotfl:
I am thinking of giving up this mag and getting Cross stitch collection instead - There is a lovely 'air goddess' pic by Joan Elliot coming up in this month's issue that I'm liking a lot:D
I bought it purely to stitch the little gingham hearts, haven't bought a CS mag for over a year. Took it to bed on Friday night and read it in one hit. Nothing else in there took my fancy so won't be rushing to the newsagents for the next issue.Married 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December

He had a peg in when died and a whole heap of complications. If you need anyone to talk to you know where I am. Seeing your message brought back alot of memories. Keep strong but know we are here.

PS the floral alphabet was done in his memory.
aww thank you, that means alot to me your an :Achickywiggle wrote: »wahoooooo October challange (veg sampler) complete. have tonsssssss of threads left i must be super echonomical!!!
wow that looks great and well done :T:TI also use copies of my charts so I can see the dreaded back stitch and bead/french knot positions on the original after I've marked off where I've stitched on the copy. I also enlarge the chart so I can see it better lol.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/54706782@N03/5130754083/ Is where I'm up to, I'm hoping to get it done by Christmas, but I haven't bought anything to start afterwards yet...lol thinking about it though
I'm thinking of getting a frame to work on rather than use a hoop - as I've noticed it stretching the fabric in places. Is there any particular style I should look for?
thats coming on and its such a lovely subject0 -
I managed a little bit of the big one last night, I need to get it finished this week, as I have next week off of work and there are a number of other things that I would like to get finished that week without worrying about finishing it off.
I also picked up another little UFO from a past WoXS (it's Edwina Hedgehog (I think that's her name) with spring flowers that came with a little pink boarder for it) to do when I have visitors and don't want to be sat behind a big stand.0 -
this is my november challange...... plus i need to start some christmas cards so won't promise to finish it.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0

Hi, can I join please. I have been following this thread pretty much since the start of the year but have never gotten round to registering, until know when a lady in weddings was searching for her perfect dress and I knew what it was. There have been some stunning pictures stitched over the last year by everyone and I have my eye on a few Heaven and Earth designs after seeing some of the ones you have/are stitching. I like the Scott Gustafen? fairy tale ones.
I have been cross-stitching since I was in my early teens although I have had a couple of breaks but always come back to it. I am currently stitching a Me To You wedding sampler for my sister who is getting married in January and also All Our Yesterdays Flower Girl picture that she is planning on giving her younger bridesmaids as presents. I also have a UFO of a tiger and cub (its the Born Free one that someone posted a photo of a few months ago). i'm ashamed to say I started this when I was at university about 10 years ago, but I just can't get back into it at the moment. I keep spending time on it here and there and it is probably a little over 3/4 finished but it feels like a chore when I do it and I'm not used to that with stitching.
I have quite a stash at the moment, I went on a bit of a spree when the wimblebees sale was on and then found some more I had forgotten about. I will make a list later when I get chance, hope dh doesn't see it though, he will stop me buying any more, I'm sure he thinks I only have 4 or 5 (more like 15 lol).

Hi everyone
Just found the thread again (MSE is such an easy place to get lost in !!) . Thanks for the welcomes and for recommending the cheap DMC threads shop. i've been in touch and was very impressed - very quick responses and very helpful.
I've decided that kits are just too expensive to buy and have just bought some design software to 'do-it-myself'. It's a good way to use up threads that you've left as you can adapt designs to fit the colours you've got. It should work out cheaper in the long run than buying kits.
It's easier than you'd expect to use, too. I spent ages looking at all the available softwares - great fun trying all the free sample downloads! Anyone else 'd-i-y-ing'? Love to compare notes.0 -

How did you do with the gingham hearts? I found the material to be too poor quality to stitch on, just pulls and snags everywhere. I persevered and completed one heart, but it just looked manky, so I binned it. I did use the felt hearts and the ribbon to make one present, will probably make another as well but I used aida from my own stash. On the whole I like the new look, I have a subscription so am going to withold judgment for a few months.
Am disappointed with the quality of the fabric though, not much of a free gift if it is unstichable. I do normally use my own aida for stitching the free kits, but purely because I like to use larger bits than they generally supply, the free bit is generally OK and gets used for mini projects :-)

Gave up half way through the second row of stitches, looked really untidy. I do want to make them to hang on my wardrobe doors. Think I will stitch the hearts on red and white aida, must have some stashed away somewhere! Then stitch them onto the gingham with big blanket stitch - very shabby chic!
I'll dig some out tonight and have another bash tomorrow lunchtime.Married 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December
