Just jumping on to see what is happening - been thinking of the memory sampler. If you find a pattern you could add your own words - I found these words comforting when I lost my first husband - I had them on a locket from the Bradford exchange but lost it in my house fire.

  • Afternoon everyone, I'm a newbie to your thread :D

For a few weeks now I have been looking for a cheap (if not free) Christmassy village pattern off the the internet.
Not much luck unfortunately. In the shops they all seem to be so expensive. I have even tried to convert a picture using a free online converter but it's just not working for me (I think it's the converter that is the probem).

Does anyone have any ideas where I could get a nice pattern from?
Failing that does anyone use a good free cross stitch converter they could direct me to?

I have just been looking through the thread at all of your work, welldone everyone they are brilliant:T

    Thanks for any help:o

millymoo sorry cant help you with a converter.....I let hubs do all the fiddling with the computer if anything tricky needs to be done :D

Here is what I've started now. I love Margaret Sherry's animals they are so cute. This is going to be for my dd as she loves baking and also got a ginger cat! Thing is already I've made 4 mistakes already (have unpicked them) 3 in the teapot and one in the tray  so what's that about. :mad:When I did another of her charts the kittens in the 4 mugs I only did one as the mistakes were just tumbling out and I gave it up as a bad job. But going to persevere with this......I hope! Do you think it's cos of the half stitches throwing me?

  • It's not wrong... its just your own interpretation

I can honestly say that in 20 yrs of stitchery I have NEVER done one 100% correctly. And i loathe unstitching (even more than backstitch) so i prefer to adapt it

No one knows except you :) Everyone else will think it's excellent :)
  • Hi Louise, just want you to know I received the threads you sent today, thank you so much!

Well, after a frantic week of work, children and sewing - I've finished my wedding sampler :-)

    Here it is!

    http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa460/ab7167/c39089e7.jpg

Just got to get it framed now, there is a really good man at my local market on Saturdays who does made to measure really good value - I think it always looks so lovely to have a frame made the right size rather than try and fit it to a commercial one. I hope they like it....

And as I see no reason to do anything twice, am happy to post the chart to anyone who might want it? Obviously you'll have to buy aida and thread, but it is a lovely pattern :-)
